I wanted to see the visitor centre at møns klint after seeing the images on google maps. A local bnb host said the visitor centre was pretty small. So when we arrived around 10.30 and saw the ticket price we were held aback. However we wanted to see the 3D film about extreme weather events, and at the desk we heard there was a guided fossil hunting tour at 14:00 so we decided to go inside after all. And it was the best decision of the week! The 3D film was a National Geographic film and there were English and German dubs available. after that we learned a whole lot about the geography of Møns Klint, why the fossils were there to be found. And the history of the area and Denmark. I especially loved the exhibition on Amber and insects that were found inside it. So much to see! The museum has multiple interactive displays that are interesting for kids, but secretly I enjoyed myself quite a bit as well. The VR bird and climbing experiences were cool. And the workshop with microscopes to study the fossils helped me prepare for the big fossil hunt. We had lunch in the café and the food was pretty decent. Although maybe a bit pricey. 14:00 we gathered outside the building and were brought on a (de)tour with the guide. Because of the tide and wind the beach at the centre wasn’t accesible, so we walked about 2 km to the next big staircase. Underway the guide told all kinds of cool facts and stories about the forest leading up to the 499 step staircase. On the beach we searched for fossils and that was the end of the tour. I eventually spent 7 hours in and around the centre so it’s money well spent! Would recommend.

Truth be told, I was actually kind of disappointed with this visit. Not entirely sure what I was expecting though. I must have been here before, many many years ago, so I don't remember any of it from back then. But the parking lot was a bit chaotic, and quite cramped. It was a bit tricky to figure out where to go to find an empty slot, but we managed in the end. The cliff itself has a long staircase down to the waters edge. I believe it was around 990 steps up and down, but when you get to the bottom there isn't all that much to see. Of course it's impressive to look up the white cliffs, but.. At the top there are signs for some view points in either direction, but it was very limited what you could see for the trees and bushes. And I'm not suggesting to cut them down, just stating the fact. We opted not to visit the Geocenter as we found the entrance too expensive. Same with a can of cola - 29 DKK. I'd say that is almost theft!

In the summer, it gets busy around these parts! The Danish countryside is beautiful, with rolling fields and pretty buildings, but not a lot going on geologically. Here it’s different. The huge white cliffs rise up from the sea, and tower above you as you arrive at the bottom of Denmark’s longest staircase. The beach is a very narrow strip of stones washed from the cliff, with the odd pile of chalk that has fallen from above. The beach is probably not the safest part of the world, with the crumbly chalk cliffs above, but it is beautiful. The centre itself is interesting and is worth a quick visit, but it’s the nature that’s the main attraction here.

Very nice natural spot south to copenaghen. We took the car to visit it from the city, took about 1.45 h to reach the geocenter parking. Parking here costs 5 euros, to be paid at the arrival. There are two different paths that lead to two separate beaches (rock and small beaches). Water is good. In the morning the sun shine on the cliffs and on the beach, on the afternoon goes behind the cliff and if it's not a hot day the wind will probably freeze you. Very nice and cured forest to walk in, to reach the beaches you need to walk many steps (up and down). Cafe and restaurant present near the geocenter. Free toilet available. Recommended!

Møns Klint is a great way to spend a day. They have a a nice playground for the kids and a small cafe for a lunch. I recommend bringing your own lunch. There are some spots with amazing views with benches along the trail, which make for a great place to have lunch. Even in its busiest time, there is still opportunity to find yourself alone in a quite tranquil forest. If you like to mountain bike, there are some amazing trails here too. I walked about 10 kilómeters from the beginning of the trail, to the end, down the water and back around. But there are several ways, so you can make your own path.
