Fantastic national park on a peninsula consisting of two peaks. Great for hiking, several points of historical interest (Fort Shirley and the east and west batteries, as well as the ruins of the commandant’s residence and other buildings). Lovely nature. Beautiful views. And a cafe at the parking area. Highly recommended as a highlight of Dominica, where nature and views are plentiful but well-preserved historical sites...

Very interesting fort and nature area, with well tended paths for hiking. Be sure to check out the Douglas battery, not just the main restored area of the fort. It's in disrepair, with vines and trees covering the masonry structures. Not often you see a 250 year old cannon lying on the ground, with the British crown seal on it! Really amazing, eerie sights. Highly...

EN- Great site, where everything has been restored! Included in the Site Pass (12€-$ for the week) or single entry at 5€-$ /pers. There is Fort Shirley 5/10 minutes from the entrance and it's magnificent, you imagine yourself there. Then 2 hikes are proposed to you : > a first which continues after the Fort and gives you a view of the ocean after a short hike of 25min > a second that takes you first to a viewpoint on the other bank and then to a 360° panoramic location ! (35/45min) You cross the former encampments of soldiers, officers and commanders.

The fort is well preserved. Interesting signs to follow. The path is to the barracks and embattlements needs a little clearing and the map is confusing. But we made it. The museum below is nice and the people are very helpful and friendly. The food at the tavern is quite yummy, especially after a long hike up. This was the view from the snack bar area.
