Hotel Colinas Del Rey — Attraction in Hato Mayor

Several of us were in town and had the Friday afternoon as down time and visited Colinas del Rey to relax at the pool. The resort/restaurant/pool was just west of town, Hato Mayor. We spent several hours swimming in the pool. The cost was $3.00 (US). One could order food at pool side, which several did. There was also free wifi, which we did not have at the place we were staying. There was a water slide, a kiddie pool and a fountain in the middle of the pool. The restrooms were just a short walk. It was a very pleasurable afternoon. The water was still a little cool in the middle of January, even for us northerners. ||Areas of the pool could use some new paint, but the water was clean.||We did not stay at the resort, just used the pool. DO NOT GO ON THOSE SLIDES!! THEY’RE A DEATH TRAP!!

The location is nice if you’d like to go swimming and have a drink but FOR YOUR OUR SAFETY PLEASE DO NOT GO ON THE SLIDES. They are horribly built and extremely unsafe—the white one especially. The blue slide has paint chipping off of it and it is unleveled. The white one is super steep and has a harsh corner right before the final drop. I had gone with my sister and she picked up so much speed on the way down from how steep it is that she caught airtime and hit her head on the slide. She passed out and had to be brought to the hospital for a head CT. Some employees helped immediately, bringing her some ice and home remedy creams. We both left with scrapes and bruises as well. When reporting this to the owner GISELA, she said she had never seen or heard of such a thing. However, several employees said that people get hurt on those slides all the time. There are no signs or pool rules that precaution against accidents like this. Those slides should either be rebuilt correctly or taken down indefinitely.

¡¡NO USES LOS TOBOGANES!! ¡¡SON UNA TRAMPA MORTAL!!

El lugar es buena si desea ir a nadar y tomar algo, pero POR SU SEGURIDAD, NO SE SUBA A LOS TOBOGANES. Están horriblemente construidos y son extremadamente inseguros, especialmente el blanco. El tobogán azul tiene pintura desconchada y no está nivelado. El blanco es súper empinado y tiene una curva dura justo antes de la caída final. Fui con mi hermana y al ella usar el tobogán blanco agarró tanta velocidad en la bajada por lo empinado que es, que literalmente se levantó su cuerpo en el aire y se golpeó la cabeza tan fuerte, que se le hinchó un lado de la cara instantáneamente. Perdió por unos segundos el conocimiento, se desorientó y se desmayó y tuvimos que llevarla a la clínica de emergencias donde la refirieron urgente a San Pedro para una tomografía craneal. Solamente una empleada trató de ayudarnos llevándole hielo y crema de remedio casero. Ambas salimos con rasguños y moretones también. Al informar esto a la propietaria GISELA, ella dijo que nunca había visto ni oído hablar de algo así. Sin embargo, varios empleados dijeron que la gente se lastima en esos toboganes todo el tiempo. No hay señales ni reglas en la piscina que prevengan o adviertan de accidentes como este. Estos toboganes deberían reconstruirse correctamente o eliminarse por completo. ¡POR FAVOR...
