Must visit on your trip to Punta Cana. Wonderful eco-adventure park, with exotic animals, caves, zip lines, jungle hikes, waterfall swimming holes, but the original famous Blue-Hole is no longer accessible (see notes later).
The Scape Park is a beautiful and must-visit natural adventure park. It is located about 20 min from the Punta Cana airport and is packed with natural wonders that shows off the tropical beauty of the reason in a fun and exciting manner.
Zip-lines: There are lots of interconnected zip lines (though a few are not in operation when we visited), some go from high up on the cliff, while others zip through various water features. There is even one that goes all the way across the park letting you fly head first superman style. Other end or drop you in water. The lines are never more than a couple minutes longs. Some of the best that I've seen.
Zoo: There is a monkey and iguana exhibit that are quite delightful. There are also parrots which you can view and take pictures with.
Others: There is a decent tree-top trekking course and a interpretative cultural trail with reproduction of the natives that use to live here. Once of the few attractions in the area that talks about that.
Caves, Sink-hole and Waterfall: This is some of the most interesting aspect of the park. There is a large cave complex which you can take tours through. There is also a natural limestone swimming "pool" that is about 3-4 feet deep with a cascading waterfall on the side. There is a underground cenote with crystal clear water (a little cool) that you can swim in. There is also a beautiful trail that leads to the "blue hole" (but not the famous original) that you can jump in and swim.
Food at the place is good and reasonably priced.
Overall, a must visit location with beautiful landscapes and activities. However, the original Hoyo Azul is not longer accessible, the new one with the same name is...
Read moreThe park is really a lot of fun. I think the prices of drinks and food were very reasonable, compared to amusement parks in the United States. At the restaurant, the entrees are around $12 each for things such as hamburger and fries, cheese quesadilla and fries, hot dog, etc. They have bottled beer (Presidente, Modelo, Corona, Stella Artois, etc) for 5-7 dollars, depending on which one. But you can actually carry around a glass bottle of beer in between adventures. We got there at 10 AM and left at 2:30 PM and honestly we could've stayed another hour because we hadn't done everything there was to do. If you have water shoes, I definitely recommend that you bring them because there are trails to get from one attraction to the other and there are sharp rocks but also you can't zip line or jump off of things in flip flops... Also for the caves that you can swim in. They sell them at the gift shop but they're $25 US. Also they have lockers for you to stash your belongings in but the catch is that you have to buy a small lock for $5. If you happened to bring your own small suitcase type lock, you could save yourself time and money. Also everyone goes to the one bank of lockers immediately outside of the gift shop but there are other lockers on the way to the Superman zip line-they're double the size of the ones everyone else uses and nobody else uses them. We brought this big beach bag and we had to unpack it and stuff everything into the tiny locker when we first got there until we later discovered the bigger lockers. The only thing that we didn't care for is that there are very little instructions given and if you don't speak Spanish, it's definitely a disadvantage. The park has so many staff there but most of them don't speak much, if any English, and the bad thing is that these are the ones that are putting on your gear and responsible for your safety. Most of the time they don't tell you anything so you just have to figure it out for yourself. They do have rules, so to speak, but they are VERY loosely enforced. We took a go pro camera on almost everything even though it was technically against the rules. Our favorite attractions were the eco splash zip line which is actually 5 separate zip lines and not far from the entrance and the Hoyo Azul, which was a very deep pit full of very cold pretty water. People were jumping and diving from the platform, and it was a lot of fun...the hole claims to be 49' deep so it is safe. The Superman zip line was quite a hike to get to, and uphill at that. It is a lot of fun and goes very fast but it's over before you know it. In the end, it was definitely worth it and a lot of fun. I wish someone had told me some of the things that I just shared in this review but it should save you some time and money... And speaking of money they take cash or credit...
Read moreA lot to say about this place but definitely worth spending a day for it 😊 Good fun for sure, but the whole place is still a bit like organized chaos, or at least trying to be organized. Definitely for a good weather day. And definitely with a children more than 8 or even 10 years old if you want to do most of the things. Couple of activities have age restrictions. Don't take too much - we've had two towels, clothes for change, two pairs of shoes each... Nope, definitely too much. Sport shoes must be as the zip lines can't be done in flip flops, water shoes - only if you really like, I had one and wasn't particularly using them, the other person didn't have and survived easily everywhere. And if you'll schedule your day properly to do all water activities in the morning/midday and zip lines as last - you don't need the clothes to change or a towel (depends on the weather as well of course). The lockers - if you have your own small lock you don't need to spend 5 USD. They are really small lockers, we had some troubles to put everything inside just one. Locker though recommended as even the park is quite vast you're almost always after each activity end up by the entrance. So you really don't want to wander around with your bag, sunscreen, snack, food, drinks (yeah, you can have it, at least no one chased us around for eating our lunch buns and having our own drinks). Zip lines - I'd recommend to do as last, best fun and also gives you a chance to dry before returning with the bus to the hotel and there are no queues in the afternoon. Bat cave will take around 30-40 minutes, Hoyo Azul will take 30-45 minutes top, cave swimming even less. The best area is a bit hidden, further away from the entrance. Saltos Azules - best part of the park! A lot of places to sit, nice area to spend an hour or two. Definitely iguanas is a super cool place, but it'll take no more than 10-15 min and it's just around the entrance. Big negative - there is a lunch break. 11-13 or 12-14, I guess depends on a day. So the thing is, zip lines are closed. Bat cave is closed. Saltos Azules is open, but the staff is reduced so all queues are taking more time. But still it's the best place to be for that time. Our recommendation for activities: Hoyo Azul as first (you're avoiding the place to overcrowded and have best sun shine), iguanas, cave swim&culture road, (lunch break before) Saltos Azules (or lunch break after), bat cave and zip lines in the afternoon. First buses are at 4:30, second round at 5:30 PM. We had really good fun, weren't rushing but also weren't spending too much time in every place, we managed to do everything except the rancho and buggies (which we really didn't want to so we didn't buy extended version of the ticket). Hope it...
