I've been here twice but never did the falls the first time and walked to the end before they built the bridge it was a nice walk but the rocks through the river bed can get slippery. Thankful for the bridge This time I decided to join others to do the falls. Bring watershoes if you have any the rentals are gross they also provide helmet and life jackets the cost is $12/ pp with a guide to falls in a large group. Make sure you bring waterproof case if you have phone or anything you want to keep dry. They offer lockers if you want to leave things behind we had a driver that kept our stuff in his vehicle for us. Also make sure your watches are fully secured but I suggest you don't wear any my friend lost his apple watch last time jumping in About a 20 min hike with built in wooden stairs it's not so bad they give you a water bottle to drink and carry to top don't worry they stop often to rest and make sure everyone is ok. Then you descend down towards the falls, you can either climb down the ladder, slide down the natural waterslides, and or jump. I slid down but after getting down and looking up I realize jumping was a better safer option as the rocks aren't all that smooth and I did bang up my elbow. The water is very refreshing its cool not cold, sights and sounds are amazing. We did about 5 of these all pretty much same slide, jump, or climb down ladder and they used to offer a jump on the last one but now they make you slide no more jumping last fall before walking back. No hills to climb back all easy peasy We chose to walk out and took van cab that offered 7 of us for the day $150 (we tipped him and bought him espresso drinks) but you can get a cab for up to 5pp/$100 inside Port I'm not sure if that includes city tour. It's worth seeing the city if you have time it's beautiful. Stop for local mangoes they're $5 usd for a bag of approximately 8 delicious mangoes looks green outside but inside is deep orange yuuuum Fresh coconuts at the city centre is a bargain $1 usd each, we crowded him and attracted many others this kid was incredible chopping those coconuts and still have all his fingers I'm getting carried away now from the falls 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Do it, overcome your fears if you have any, height not too bad it looks worse looking down but once you're down you'll see it's probably safer to jump. I added some photos of the city centre and fort in event anyone wants to check out other than...
Read moreI recently went on the Damajagua Waterfalls excursion, and it was a major disappointment. The experience was nothing like what was promised when I booked the trip. First, we were told that heavy rain in the days before our excursion had damaged the ladders and platforms, so we would only visit two waterfalls and still be able to slide and jump into the pools, with a 20% discount. However, once we began the excursion, the guides informed us that we would only visit one waterfall, and there would be no sliding or jumping. Most of our time was spent walking and waiting for crowds of people to pass us on the trail. The "picturesque waterfall" was not the stunning, powerful cascade I had imagined. The guide seemed disengaged and didn’t provide any insights about the area or its natural surroundings, making the whole experience feel even more underwhelming. To make matters worse, we spent very little time at the waterfall itself and were rushed through without the chance to take photos or truly enjoy the moment. Overall, this excursion was misleading and frustrating, and I would not recommend it to anyone seeking a genuine nature experience. We wasted an entire day on this trip. If you're cruising in the Dominican Republic, I suggest skipping...
Read moreMy aunt used to say "beauty knows no pain." While she was actually talking about putting my hair in a ponytail, I can say that the same applies to the Damajagua Falls. In planning our cruise excursion, I read the warning that there was a hike to the falls and to be prepared for about 45 minutes. No problem!! So wrong!! I am a 48 year old, curvy girl with RA, and there are a few things that the excursion description did not mention. I was expecting a hike...not a climb. When you put a 5+ pound lifejacket on said 48 year old curvy girl and tell her to climb a series of steps that go up at what felt like 45 degrees, she takes a minute!! One of our sweet guides...Moreno...took good care of us!! And by "us", I mean me. He also takes fantastic photos and videos of the experience. If you go, they have a gentleman taking photos and videos, so you really don't have to take your phone. But do take your inhaler.... They will give you water at the bottom, which you will need later! You also need closed-toed shoes. If you don't happen to have them, they can rent them to you. Not the greatest of support, but...
