The Excursion to Isla Saona in Catamaran Colonial Tour and Travel offers this tour to Isla Saona, which is the most sold tour in the Dominican Republic, starting from the hotels of Punta Cana-Bavaro, La Romana-Bayahibe. Juan Dolio, Boca Chica or Santo Domingo at 7:00 am in comfortable buses with air conditioning and bathrooms if they are large buses until you reach the picturesque town of Bayahibe at 9:00 am.
From the beach of Bayahibe we will embark on a beautiful catamaran with all the security measures and accompanied by expert guides in all languages. During the trajectory towards Isla Saona on the catamaran you can enjoy snacks and national alcoholic beverages and water, soft drinks as well as try the delicious tropical fruits. Immediately you will enjoy the beautiful views of the true Caribbean and its transparent waters with white sands like salt until you reach the famous Saona Island at around 11:00 am.
It is the custom of hikers to bring some candies to give to the children of the small fishing villages that live on the Island.
There will be time to take a delicious bath in its clean and crystal clear waters of the beaches of the island where we have a special area reserved for customers with chaise-longues while some people enjoy entertainment and classes of Merengue and Salsa with our staff of animators and others will be collecting snails or taking pictures of the beach. But ... they are close to 1:30 p.m. and hunger attacks us. In a restaurant area covered with beautiful palapas and palm trees we will have a delicious buffet based on lobster spaghetti, fish, chops, grilled chicken, green and Russian salads, white rice and legumes, tropical vegetables and fruits, coffee and drink local included.
We will rest that magnificent lunch taking the soft breeze of the Island and talking with the hospitable islanders or we will nap on the beach. At 2:30 pm, we will return by comfortable and safe speedboats and it is almost mandatory to visit the beautiful mangroves, attached to the Catuano Canal, which separates Saona Island from the mainland. Where we will see a school of fish of all colors that approach the boats waiting for us to throw them and piece of bread.
Then we continue to the largest sandbar in the area, where there are many marine species, especially starfish. The largest pool in the world, named for its shallow depth of 1 meter, crystal clear water, sandbank and 400 meters from the coast in the middle of the sea. It is there where the most charming toast is made, a true dream of...
Read moreMy husband took me to Dreams for my 40th birthday present. We have never been to the Domican Republic before but had a lovely time and will be back. We really liked this hotel but did have a few minor issues. When we checked in having booked a deluxe tropical view room was disappointed to have a wall and fence view, the room was missing some bits like robes and information pack and our lights did not work properly. We returned to reception and complained, we was offered to upgrade but at the price per night extra and having paid a fair bit for the holiday declined. We was however moved the next day to a room with a slightly better view although i feel the eooms could do with an upgrade as looking a bit tired. If you are hoping on a seaview or pool view or a room facing inwards you have to upgrade to the preferred club which is not cheap. Once settled we found the hotel and staff lovely. The restaurants and the food was all lovely. There are so many choices with food and drink so no chance of getting bored. We did not use the spa as the prices are quite high for treatments ($139) for a massage. There are a few shops here which sell various items but again quite expensive.
Towels on sunbeds also a problem if you want to lay around the pool. People get up really early to do this and there are often beds with just towels on all day!.. We spent most our time at the beach which didnt have this problem.
Day trips from here also very expensive, i would advise researching excursions on here and booking via here too.
The beach was lovely but did not look like the pictures, there was a seaweed problem but staff worked tirelessly to clean up every day and the sea was a little murky, my husband was disappointed as was looking forward to snorkelling. You could do a boat trip to a jetty which was not far and swim with sharks and stingray but again it was expensive at $130 each for a 2 minute boat ride and hour swim.
Having said that our stay here was lovely and...
Read moreOur trip to Saona was amazing with this group. Great atmosphere and the people working want you to have an amazing time. They hit the mark on everything and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Danny (¡Chupi Chupi!) was a fantastic host that made sure everyone was safe and taken care of. Unlimited drinks and a very nice Dominican Buffett was waiting for us on Saona Island.
Rafael (sorry if not spelled correctly) was also a top tier worker who went out of his way to make sure my wife and I were taken care of and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. He was also our photographer on this trip that took fantastic pictures; I highly suggest finding him to take your pictures! I see a bright future for this young man and I wish I could personally thank him (again) for his hospitality.
If you are taking a tour to Saona, don’t hesitate to go with these guys, you won’t be disappointed. A++ experience that everyone coming to the Dominican Republic should witness for their...
