I had a lot of fun driving around and visiting this place. I've always wanted to go—it's been on my list for some time—but we finally made it. The front desk was very busy when we arrived; it was mid-afternoon, and shuttles were bringing people in to check in, so we had to wait a good hour in line. While we were waiting, I asked the security guard for information about the process to visit Altos de Chavón, and he was quite knowledgeable and very kind. Armed with that information, we continued waiting in line. When it was finally our turn, the check-in process was really quick. We paid, got our receipts, and the gentleman at the desk explained the route and what to do using a map that we got to keep. It costs $50 per person, and you can stay there until 5 or 6 PM. The atmosphere of Altos de Chavón is truly magical. The cobblestone streets, the stone buildings adorned with climbing vines and rustic lanterns make it such a charming place. There's a peaceful quiet that surrounds the compound, interrupted only by the occasional chirping of birds or the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. The air is filled with a subtle scent of blooming flowers, adding to the feeling of stepping back in time. The overall ambiance is a perfect blend of history and tranquility, making it easy to lose yourself in the charm of the place. One of the highlights of Altos de Chavón is the amphitheater. It's an open-air venue, and standing there, you can almost hear the echoes of past performances lingering in the air. The amphitheater is grand yet intimate, with a semicircular design that offers a perfect view from every seat. The stone seats add to the ancient feel, and as you look out over the stage, it's easy to imagine the incredible concerts and events that have taken place there. The energy of the amphitheater is palpable, and it's one of those places that leaves a lasting impression long after you've left. This place is out of this world. I was transported and immersed into another time period. The fact that it's overlooking the Río Chavón and the golf courses in the distance makes it even more surreal. The attention to detail, execution, and maintenance of this replica of a 16th century Mediterranean village is excellent. A once-in-a-lifetime experience!

I'm glad we went, but I will forewarn you that it is difficult to gain entry to Casa de Campo if you aren't staying there. You must have a concierge service get your reservation secured, but then you are at the mercy of whomever is at the desk. You must bring your passport with you as well. The people at the desk kept changing the price of entry telling our concierge contact one thing ($25/person) and us another ($50/person). Plus the woman at the desk made us wait over an hour and a half for some random reason that didn't make any sense. Even our driver was getting annoyed and knew that they weren't being straight with us. There were 4 different people behind the desk and no one would answer the phone (it was ringing nonstop) to talk with our concierge contact so she had to call me directly so that I could hand the phone to the woman we were dealing with. Very unprofessional and the delay had nothing to do with security. Otherwise the town was really stunning and definitely feels like you're in an old town in Italy. We enjoyed touring the local museum which has a lot of artifacts about the DR and the people who have lived there over the centuries. Very cute shops, lots of restaurants, beautiful walkways through the town and gardens. And of course you can see the church where Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley got married. Definitely glad we went, but the fuss just to get in was unnecessary.

It is one of the main tourist attractions of the Dominican Republic, in its amphitheater the concerts of the most recognized artists worldwide who visit DR are held, and there are many events and weddings here. It is a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean town in the heart of Casa de Campo that houses a cultural center for residents, tourists and artists from around the world. It houses artistic workshops of various disciplines, such as pottery, weaving and screen printing; all in the cobbled streets of this town, between shops and boutiques that show their unique creations. The art gallery has works by renowned Dominican artists, as well as artists from around the world who contribute to promoting a creative and intercultural dialogue. Altos de Chavón also houses the famous Altos de Chavón Design School, affiliated with the Parsons School of Design in New York. In addition, the town has an archaeological museum, which offers a glimpse of the fascinating history of the area, the church of San Estanislao, an amphitheater with 5,000 seats, and captivating views of the Chavón River and the Caribbean Sea. Admission is restricted so you must be the owner of a property in Casa de Campo or invited by someone, or go to some activity in that specific to a Concert.

Outstanding little Italian town located inside Casa de Campo, it also holds an Amphitheatre that hosts special concerts by local and international artists. - The architecture is identical to an Italian or European city, it hosts many shops (ámbar, Larimar, restaurants, clothing, gift shops, Ice Cream), it has a small but enchanting church that holds masses and weddings. - The surrounding areas host an impressive river with vast vegetation and a great view of a golf course. - The ticket to enter includes a visit to the Casa de Campo Marina and Playas Minitas where they have restaurants, you must do these two activities on your own, a car is suggested if you're visiting as we did, a day pass. - Lastly but not least it also holds a museum of the Tainos, "Free of charge" with a great guide and archeology collection of pieces, instruments and history of the Tainos, the information is posted in both in Spanish and English.
