I have lived here for 3 years and this is a place I have visited 4 times and absolutely love the view and experience of.

Unfortunately, this last hike for a friends birthday is another example in the world of people trying to rip others off and of the bad behavior and racism that persists in this country.

It's important to keep in mind that we wanted to hike and we were not taking the transportation. Which they told my friends were the same price going up and coming down. (200RD Pesos)

Normal price is 200RD Pesos just to walk up, my friends who arrived first were quoted this, when I showed up with my Dad they told me $10US Dollars a person, even when I spoke spanish and told him that I lived here.

There are no signs that show different prices and it was based purely on the fact that we were white and they thought they could scam me.

(By the way, they have done this to me before, I've come with a friend from eastern Europe who is white and they charged us 200RD Pesos each to hike the first time and then another time they forced me to pay $10US Dollars each with the same person. I've also come by myself and with my Venezuelan friends and both times they only charged us 200RD Pesos)

Whoever was in charge (La Babosa) was pissed when I came back with the right identification and reluctantly let us hike up.

Not to long after we left he (La Babosa) took a personal vehicle up and stayed at the top.

When returning my friends asked if we could take one of the empty trucks down, the first girl said yes no problem. Then a woman came over and told us no, it would be an additional $10US Dollars a person, which, if anything should be $5US Dollars because we were at the top already, but we thought would only be 200RD Pesos since that's what they said in the beginning. Regardless they said no, it's $10US Dollars each.

Lastly, when we started walking down, the owner or person in charge (La Babosa), walked after us and followed us down the walkway and when another group of people waved my friends in the truck wanting to help us, the owner or person in charge started screaming, yelling, and cursing at them.

Why is a grown man screaming in the faces of two women and my dad who is almost 70?

We left and my only regret is that I didnt get a picture of his face (La Babosa)

I don't believe I nor my friends will ever come...

This is a rustic attraction with incredible views over the countryside, the Atlantic coast and the opening of Samaná Bay.

You can either hike up the mountain or ride in the back of a truck, which is what we have done both times we went. The truck ride is a hair-raising experience, as the climb is steep and the road is rough.

Once your rattled bones get to the top, you will find a restaurant, an observation tower, sturdy swings you can use for impressive photos, hammocks, two different types of zip lines and other attractions. There are some typical small shops selling souvenirs as well.

The views are spectacular, especially the turquoise waters near the coast and the hilly areas inland. You will also see two large lakes: Laguna Redonda to the left and Laguna Limón to the right. If you look closely near Laguna Limón you will see many fields of rice. Those large black and brown birds soaring in the air currents are turkey vultures.

We enjoyed a beer, some fries and a quesadilla in the restaurant, while soaking in the incredible views.

Once you make your way back down the hill, you will find a few small shops selling souvenirs as well as local fruits and vegetables. We selected a cocoa pod (you don’t see those for sale very often!) along with beautiful local avocados and a papaya.

In summary, this is an attraction for those who love a fantastic view with a fun and adventurous ride to the top...

There is enough space to park your car safely (price 2 Dollars) Entrance per person is 7 Dollars You can easily walk up there from the parking. It is exactly 2 km and took me 30 minutes including taking some pictures along the way if you don't want to walk they offer a transportation for 20 Dollars up to 4 people on the top you have swings and hammocks for free. There is also a restaurant I haven't tried. Nice 360 round view which is really worth the price

When I arrived they told me in Spanish that I have to pay 36 dollars. I insisted to walk - so I had to pay 14 Dollars entrance fee and 2 dollars for the parking (2 persons). I really recommend to walk. It's a nice, easy and short walk up there. Absolutely safe. So why pay 20 Dollars for transportation ?

Super fácil para caminar. Recomiendo guardar los 20 dollares y simplemente caminar los 30 minutos por arriba. El camino no es riesgoso.

Am besten hoch laufen und sich die 20 Dollar sparen. 30 Minuten und man ist oben. Leichter Weg ohne...

After traveling for over 1507 days, taking a break sounds nice, right? But then, FOMO hits you like a wave! 😱 The fear of missing out on amazing places and experiences keeps us going, even when we’re tired. 🌍🏃‍♂️ Here’s how we balance the need for rest with our endless wanderlust: 🛌 Rest Up: Sometimes, you just need to take that break. Recharge your batteries so you’re ready for the next adventure. 🗺️ Plan Smart: We make a list of must-sees and nice-to-haves. This way, we don’t miss the big stuff, but we’re okay skipping the rest. 🤝 Connect with Locals: They show us what’s really worth seeing, so we don’t waste time on tourist traps. 📱 Stay Updated: Following local blogs and social media keeps us in the loop, so we know we’re not missing out. ✅ Embrace Missing Out: It’s okay not to see everything. Every place we visit is a win, and there’s always next time for what we miss! The trick is finding that sweet spot between rest and adventure. 🚀 How do you deal with travel FOMO? 🌐👇 #travelfomo #fomo #findingbalance #wanderlustlife #couplecomedy #travelcouplelife #fulltimetravel #dominicanrepublic🇩🇴 #montañaredonda
