The Piscina Natural, or Natural Pool, near Saona Island is truly a slice of paradise! Nestled in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean, this shallow sandbar creates the perfect setting for relaxation and awe-inspiring views. The water is a stunning turquoise, and the gentle waves make it feel like you're standing in an expansive, natural infinity pool.
One of the highlights of the visit is spotting and holding starfish, a thrilling experience for kids and adults alike. The biodiversity and untouched beauty of the area are remarkable. However, it’s important to handle the starfish carefully and avoid taking them out of the water to ensure their safety.
Most tours include a stop here, and it's a great break to swim, take photos, or simply enjoy the serenity. The scenery is postcard-perfect, and the warm, shallow waters are ideal for wading.
Keep in mind that the spot can get busy, especially during peak season, as it’s a popular stop for excursions. Arriving early or with a smaller group might enhance the experience. Don’t forget sunscreen, water shoes (for comfort), and a waterproof camera to capture the memories.
Overall, Piscina Natural Saona is an unforgettable destination that showcases the pristine beauty of the Dominican Republic. A must-visit for nature lovers and anyone seeking a...
Read moreCaution to anyone traveling with people who need help getting around. This is not the adventure for you. It can be done, but the groups that needed the extra support definitely didn't have a great time.
The trip from our resort to the island and back took a total of 11 hours and started at 07:30 for us. Several hours were spent on a bus. A few hours were then spent on several different types of boats. The larger sailboat was a good time.
Once landing Saona island, the views are gorgeous, and the water is warm. The food was acceptable and plenty to drink. The total time there was just under 3 hours before back on the boats.
We then stopped at the bathtub sand shelf. We only stayed for about a half hour, but that was the best water of the trip and made everything worth the effort to that point.
The lowest part of the trip was the speed boat ride on the return trip. Zero ot of ten. Would not recommend. It was an hour of holding on and trying not to get injured from being slammed at the bottom of the waves as the captain and crew laughed at the tourists.
We had to get back on the bus to return to our resorts. This was another hour plus of the adventure.
The views are amazing, but the same can be said for most of...
