Rugama Tours — Attraction in Puerto Plata

Visited March 2024 with the family. Our tour was great, kids loved the animals and the tour of the garden was great, lots of things to discover and learn. The site is quite big and you’ll have plenty of time to revisit the garden if you’d like to after the tour is over. Boat ride was beautiful and the drinks on the boat ( not included) were ice cold and a great time to enjoy some refreshments as you make your way downstream. Great views of the coastline and a stop to swim before heading back for lunch. Lunch was good and you have some spots to take a nice nap in a hamac after lunch. Pool was great for the kids and the tour was from 10am to 2/2:30pm, totally recommend this tour and price...

This place is a gem. Ruddy has created paradise with his gardens and tree houses. I've been here 3 times and he has been making improvements each year. The stand up paddle board trip is beautiful - through a narrow winding river to a lagoon, which leads to a beautiful beach. If you want lunch, place your order before you paddle and it will be waiting for you when you return, along with a cold beer or a drink in a coconut. The food and spices are sourced from the surrounding gardens. Fantastic and delicious ! Ask for a tour of the gardens. Excellent day out with local gardening group. Tour of gardens, boat ride on two rivers to Atlantic ocean. Walk on beach then boatride back to base for excellent home-cooked meal of fresh fish or chicken . Highly recommended to residents & visitors alike. Great place to bring people visiting from back home. Rudy is an expert in all plants, flowers, trees & fruits on his riverside mini-botanical garden, you will learn some very interesting & amazing things. We'll worth the trip.
