🌟 Cayo Levantado: The Ultimate Private Island Paradise! 🌟
Our recent family trip to Cayo Levantado in Samaná, Dominican Republic, was an experience that truly exceeded all expectations. This breathtaking private island is like a vision out of a Pinterest magazine, and our family of nine, spanning three generations (from ages 10 to over 60), enjoyed every moment. Here’s why this destination has become our all-time favorite:
Seamless Private Transportation
• Our family of nine was greeted with private van transportation, perfectly suited for our mixed age group, from young kids to seniors. • The driver was smooth and careful, making the long drive to the island comfortable and enjoyable.
Warm Arrival with Refreshments
• After the drive, we arrived to find refreshing drinks, cookies, and complimentary beverages, which felt like a warm welcome and a chance to unwind. • This arrival lounge allowed us to laugh, refresh, and take photos, knowing our adventure was just beginning.
Personalized Ambassador Service
• Upon docking at the island, we were greeted by our personal ambassadors—a luxury we’d never experienced before. • Ambassadors handled our suitcases, guided us to our rooms, and ensured a smooth, efficient check-in process. • Every guest, no matter their room type, is assigned a personal ambassador, making the experience feel VIP for all.
Luxurious Presidential Suite with Stunning Views
• We stayed in the Presidential Suite—a surprise upgrade! The suite was enormous, with two balconies (front and back) offering breathtaking views. • The suite featured a private plunge pool, adding a touch of romance to our spring break getaway. • Located in the main building, we could enjoy views of nightly activities, including karaoke and lively performances, from the comfort of our room.
Exclusive Private Beach Access
• One of the most memorable parts of Cayo Levantado is the private beach reserved exclusively for resort guests. • This secluded beach felt like our own oasis, with no crowds, allowing our family to relax, play, and explore without worry. • Security was thorough; only those with wristbands could access private areas, adding an extra layer of safety and exclusivity.
Delicious, All-Inclusive Dining
• The food was exceptional, with a wide array of options for every meal, all included in the package. • Room Service: Available 24/7, which was ideal for our family after long days of swimming and activities. Expect a 30-minute wait (standard for all-inclusive resorts), so don’t be misled by other reviews—this is typical for freshly prepared food. • Options ranged from traditional Dominican dishes to international favorites, ensuring there was something for everyone.
Fun and Free Water Sports
• The resort offers a variety of complimentary water sports, including: • Paddleboarding • Clear kayaking • Beach biking • For a small additional charge ($20), we tried the exhilarating underwater jet experience—a fun way to race and explore the water!
Effortless Island Navigation with Golf Carts
• Getting around the island was made easy with golf carts driven by friendly staff. • We used these carts to move between our suite, the beach, the pool, and other locations, adding a touch of fun to our island exploration.
Outstanding Staff and Service
• The entire team at Cayo Levantado—from kitchen staff to massage therapists, bartenders, and the entertainment crew—were warm, attentive, and truly committed to making our experience memorable. • Every interaction was met with a smile, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home.
Overall Experience
Cayo Levantado is a true paradise that caters to families, couples, and groups looking for a luxurious, secluded retreat. This was more than a vacation—it was a dream come true. Caio Levantado is a prime example of the difference between social media and reality. While it may look stunning in Google images, the experience on the ground is quite different. The beach was overcrowded, with vendors everywhere and loud music playing under nearly every parasol. It seems like bringing a speaker to the beach is a tradition, and the louder the music, the better. While the locals seem to enjoy this atmosphere, it made the experience far from relaxing for visitors like us.
As soon as our boat left the pier, my wife and I realized that stopping at the island might have been a mistake. The food offered at the various restaurants was generic and repetitive, and it was disappointing to see that all the trash produced on the island is disposed of right there, with no apparent care for its preservation. What could have been a paradise has been completely destroyed by the Dominicans.
Admittedly, the island does look beautiful from a distance, but up close, the experience was far from what we expected. The return journey was the final straw—boarding the last boat felt chaotic, almost like a frantic escape from a place we couldn’t wait to leave.
Sadly, this was a one-time visit for us. The natural beauty of Caio Levantado deserves better care, but until changes are made, we won’t...

The beach is overcrowded with worn down plastic sun beds, trashy tourists, and very loud music blasting from all sides. Impossible to find a spot on the beach away from all this.
It also has so many stands selling cheap tourist merchandise.
I was very excited about going there initially as I thought it would be an idyllic island with some tourists but still rather peaceful and untouched. But we stayed there for 1 hour only and even that was dreadful, we could not wait to leave the island. We would have left right away if it wasn’t for the boat taking us back to mainland.
Completely ruined by cheap tourism. Not worth visiting at all, there are much nicer beaches elsewhere on...
