The Botanical Garden of Santiago is located north of the city and represents the main green space of the Municipality of Santiago. It bears the name of the distinguished late professor Eugenio de Jesus Marcano Fondeur whose work is acclaimed worldwide. The garden covers over 650,000 square meters within a perimeter wall and with permanent surveillance. There are more than 12km of bike and walking trails making it an excellent location for outdoor recreation. The garden also has an enviable collection of plants of different species making it a nature lover’s paradise. As it is easily accessible, find time while in Santiago and check it out. Trust me; it is worth it.

El área está muy bien pensada. Ya se ha desarrollado gran parte de la vegetación (2022), creo que para el 2024 la gran mayoría de las plantas estarán bien desarrolladas. ATRACCIONES El jardín tiene varias atracciones distribuidas por todo el terreno, desde un parque de orquídeas hasta un monumento. Me gusta que cerca de cada atracción hay bancos donde sentarse a descansar o comer bajo una buena sombra. El laberito vegetal aún no está desarrollado al 100% porque a los arbustos les hace falta crecer. Diría que los arbustos están desarrollados en apenas un 30% (año 2022). MOVILIDAD Se puede recorrer todo el jardín caminando, aunque las distancias entre las atracciones es larga. Se puede comprar un ticket por $100 por persona por día para poder tomar el tren que va dando vueltas por todo el lugar. También se alquilan bicicletas. COSTOS El pase del tren cuesta $100. Las atracciones de las mariposas y el laberinto requieren un boleto de $50 por persona para entrar. COMIDA El jardín tiene una cafetería, la cual aún no ofrece platos fuertes. Es más de golosinas. Se puede llevar comida o pedir comida por delivery estando dentro del área. SUGERENCIAS La atracción del puente colgante es muy bonita, pero luego de cruzar el puente no hay nada más que ver o hacer. Podría habilitarse un área de picnic, un kiosko o exhibición de flora adicional que sume al encanto del puente. La cafetería tiene mucho que mejorar en cuanto a comida disponible y servicio al cliente.

This place is beautiful and huge. I recommend to go on weekends when the train is available. They can give you a tour throughout the whole park in it. There’s free parking, and free water on different parts of the park. There’s a great variety of plants and interesting stuff to look at. Also, bikes are available for renting everyday. If I’m not mistaken, I think it costs 200 pesos the hour. It’s honestly an amazing experience.

It's free to go in. Security will meet you in the front, check your bag, and let you in. They have these carts that you pay, and they'll give you the tour! This place is huge, so if you dont want to walk or take the cart, rent a bike!! I made the mistake of not doing it, and between the distance walked and the heat, I was dying!! Also, bring a bottle of water if iced it would be much better.

Me gustó la experiencia, es un jardín botánico muy amplio aun en construcción, a la fecha de hoy 7 julio 2024. Esta apto para toda la familia, es muy grande así que debes llevar agua suficiente, también puedes llevar cosas para comer en picnic, siempre y cuando no dejes basura más que en otro lugar que el safacon, en mi caso el día de hoy estaba muy concurrido incluso ni parqueo disponible había porque había una actividad ciclística en el parque, no me gustó porque no pude rentar bicicletas para mis hijos porque esa actividad estaba en el lugar así que era caminar o usar el tren de transporte. Fuera de eso hay baños solo en la cafetería así que tendrás que aguantar, una gran área para niños, y otras atracciones tipo senderismo para disfrutar, con el tiempo irá mejorando. Hay áreas en construcción como más parqueos y salones de conferencia. Sin duda para santiago ese pulmón verde en unos años será la atracción de toda la ciudad. Claro si no lo dejan deteriorar.

The variety and location is great. Could be much better organized with better signage but I guess the funding is missing .The maze was closed for no apparent reason.Too bad because it could be much more of an adventure with plenty of discoveries and education. But it was a great walk and made the best out of it .
