Place where you can relax in a warming pool after such a long off-road trip, one of its kind in the country, famous but road is equally challenging. We did this in a group recently travel from north part of Cailaco Raiheuk driving through the farms/jungle and stop the car at the edge of the river, walk for 2km through warm rivers. It was such a nice trekking, with beautiful surrounding, Uma Lulik, local women waving Tais. The water was so natural, warm on river, and the the pool and a bit hot up there in the taps, locals are very friendly. Ensure you bring enough foods with you when doing off-roading to this area. If this Hot Spring can be developed maturely, it can bring more tourist and generates incomes.

The best known hot springs in the country were developed by the Portuguese, with a resort complex built around the pools, but fell into disrepair. In 2016 the whole complex was redeveloped, but little maintenance appears to have taken place since. As of 2024 the toilets are completely out of action, and derelict buildings surround the pools. The hot springs produce ~2,000 litres of water per minute. There are three pools, one very hot (up to ~50C), one hot, and one cold. Despite only being 55km from Dili, allow at least 5 hours to get there, along increasingly bad roads that require good off-road skills.

We visited with a group with 7 x 4wd vehicles 22 August 2025. The hot springs are amazing. And beautiful drive for day trip from Maliana or Balibo. It was around 1hr 15min drive and road was fine for 4wd in the dry. Would be amazing fast trail bike ride. There are no functional bathroom facilities on the site. Also no vendors currently at the site.
