I'll rate this 4/5 but only because you can get the typical photo of you swinging hundreds of feet above the ground and for a moment you feel like flying and, yeah sure, the experience itself it's pretty neat but the place could really use a facelift.
Bathrooms are a disaster! This is probably the town's best touristic feature but if they don't do the proper maintenance the place will deteriorate fast.
When it's finally your turn to swing (after about 25 minutes standing in line) there are 2 guys who will take turns to push you so you can swing far enough to experience, for about 1 min, one of town's main attractions.
The issue I have is if you are the 15th person then the guy who is supposed to catapult you forward so you can enjoy the experience, is really tired, therefore you can only swing half way and, in my opinion, it will not be nearly as satisfying as if a simple pulley mechanism was put in place and make the process standard...
Read morePlease focus on what you want when you get to the top of the mountain going to Casa del Árbol, whether by bus, taxi, or by taking a hike up to the top. Regardless of what you choose the views from the top AND along the way are eye 👁 poppingly beautiful and you’re sure to enjoy the trip. There are several different “entertainment options at the top but it appears that Casa del Árbol is by far the most completely developed and encompasses a large tract of land on which lovely gardens, a number of sky high swings, a mini zip line (mostly for children) and the inevitable tree house have been built. We have not visited the other attractions but to me Casa del Árbol appears to be the best and is surely worth much more than the $1.00 entrance fee. Highly recommended!
(And yes, there are food options, both at the bus stop and inside the grounds of Casa del Árbol. Most seem to open at 8:00 AM and close at or...
Read moreAdmission is very small, most of the cost and trouble is getting here. It is a very long and winding road from Baños. Once you are here you can climb the treehouse, take a turn on the swings that swing out over the steep dropoff from the side of the mountain, overlooking a beautiful green valley and the mountains that surround Baños. They also have ziplines and a log over a shallow pool to challenge your sense of balance. We had a great time. Our only problem was that we visited during Carnaval and the treehouse (as well as all other attractions and really, the whole town) was overrun with people. The population of the city probably tripled...without really the infrastructure to support that (traffic was a mess, and a few people did not seem to respect the idea of a line and taking turns - fortunately those were very few.) The Treehouse was definitely worth it, even...
