Loja Zoo — Attraction in Loja

Short story: disappointing after all.

Long story: I had really big hopes for this establishment in the beginning since the town itself is kept in good conditions (mostly). But after arriving and seeing the infrastructure was having a nice lifting, i expected the residents were kept just as well. Big letdown, I know zoos aren't the best place to see a wide variety of gorgeous animals but they shouldn't be kept this bad either... visibly sad critters, very generic, dry, horrid looking food for them. Even some of them with skin problems on top of some of them been so lonely. All because of mindless political decisions... nobody let alone animals should experience this kind of mistreatment...hope they can somehow fix this situation or shut down this tasteless kind of human entertainment...more than one giraffe died in this place. Go figure.

Ps: I do also understand the weather isn't favorable, reason why there should be an initiative to improve their conditions. But, then...

We came expecting to see the giraffe 🦒 and 🐻 bears.. That's what we came for from Cuenca.. But without any notice.. We never saw any giraffe and bears .. They said that they died a year ago.. so we were a bit disappointed.. Only few animals and not treated so well.. Some really were suffering from wounds and diseases.. I felt sorry for those animals, some were just alone...

En pocas palabras "Uno de los mejores lugares que tiene Loja" , el clima de esta bella ciudad y el gran espacio ocupado para aquello ha sido estratégicamente el mejor. Hay un buen mantenimiento del mismo, el lugar esta en excelentes condiciones, aunque aún se encuentra en mejoramiento, pero esto no impide que quienes lo visiten puedan apreciar la belleza del lugar que acompañado de la principal atracción turística (los animales) que por cierto hay una gran variedad de ellos, desde las más indefensas tortugas hasta el rey de la selva, hacen de aquello un buen lugar para visitar. Durante el recorrido encuentras baterías sanitarias y gran cantidad de recolectores de basura; cuando terminas el recorrido de los animales, podrás empezar por el vivero, el mismo que tiene infinidad de orquídeas y plantas ornamentales, pero lo que hace más bello y atractivo este lugar es su acuario el mismo que en medio de la naturaleza lo...
