We had an absolutely wonderful trip to Yasuni national park. As we are travelling for a long period of time, we were looking for the best budget way to visit. We hope the below will help others to do the same. We took the daily local boat from Coca to Nueva Rocafuerte (18 USD one way per person) which was around 6.5 hours with a stop for lunch (USD 2.50 per person), spent 2 nights in Nueva Rocafuerte in Yurag Wasi hostal, (25 USD per night for 2 people with air con ). From here we hired our excellent guide Luis to take us for a full day into Yasuni national park (60 USD per person per day with breakfast and lunch included). We spent most of the day on his boat wildlife spotting and also left the boat for 2 short walks into the rainforest visiting giant trees and seeing more animals. The scenery is spectacular, completely unspoilt rainforest and we didn't see any other tourists. In just one day we saw pink and grey river dolphins 5 species of monkey, toucans, macaws, frogs, snakes and butterflies. For anyone interested in the same trip, here is Luis' number, he mainly works from recommendations...+593989941195. Note we also visited Pañacocha laguna and Limoncocha laguna independently on the way back. See our other reviews on...

Read moreThere is so much to see and experience in the Parque Nacional Yasuni. On Rio Napo there is SaniLodge and also the Clay Lick. There is also El Eden Lodge. All mentioned above are owned and operated by Kichwa communities.
Then on the southern end of the park are Waorani community tourism projects such as Otobo's Amazon Safari camping trips. From Coca you have to travel 2hrs on the Via Auca to the Rio Shiripuno. Then travel a total of about 12hrs in motorized canoe, taking 1.5 days to get to Boanamo. You could visit Bameno too. Or you can fly into Bameno on a small 7 or 9 seater plane directly from Shell.
Yasuni National Park has much to offer. Visiting there and doing activities in the park, you would be supporting the indigenous...
