I ride a rented bike from town to the wall of tears. The path was mostly packed gravel or packed sand. A few spots were loose gravel so be careful especially when coming back because it’s slightly uphill going there, and downhill upon return. A guy from another group wiped out and got bad road burn from the gravel and had to go to the clinic. There are well marked places to stop and walk off the main path to see titles (if you’re lucky) or walk up stairs for a great view, or walk amongst the mangroves to a swimming spot. Do all of them!! The wall of years was a wall of rocks. The story was moving but the wall was just a wall. There’s an uphill hike beyond the wall but I didn’t do it. I’d definitely recommend...

Don't believe what you read here. Sure, you can rent a bike, but the way there is full of beach sand, which made biking nearly impossible. If you had ridden a bike through beach sand, you will understand what I meant. We spent more time walking the bikes than riding them, which defeated the purpose of getting the bikes. I think the bike rental people really overadvertised the bikes, to their benefits, of course.

Another thing to consider is the constant uphills after "Camino de las Tortugas," which is pure B.S. There was not a single tortuga in sight, and the constant uphill meant more ... walking the bike uphill. Rent the bike but only if you enjoy walking the bike rather...

Super hot day.... however much water you think you need... bring more! We got a taxi to the gate and then walked from there. Still took us 6 hours as we had to take regular rests because of the heat. Saw lots of Tortoises and Iguanas as well as Blue Footed Boobies on the rocky shore. Many Cactus Finches, Galapagos Mockingbirds and Yellow Warblers.... watch the rocks for Lava Lizards. Plenty of benches along the way for a shady rest. The information at the actual wall was lacking, we would like to have known more and that was a disappointment but overall we are very...

The wall itself was nothing too wondrous, but it's interesting nonetheless to check out, given it's sad and redundant history. It's the journey TO the wall that I'd give 5 star for if I could. The estuary was an amazing place to stop, take a breath, wade through the water slowly to interact with turtles, pe gains and pelicans or even a seal or 2. Additionally, while riding on the path, we saw giant tortoises walking the same track, totally fine with you pulling over and getting some snaps (as long as you give considerate space). The ride along the beach was great fun too.

Hired a bike for $10 to ride out here. Don't be discouraged by the sand at the beginning, the road gets better (but also steeper) after about 1km. Did this as a solo female traveller and it was fine, enough other tourists on the path to feel safe plus you check in with name and accommodation when you start. Worth it for seeing giant tortoises in the wild and the two high viewpoints. I only took 500ml of water on an overcast and cool day and it wasn't enough so would recommend a minimum of 1L of water.

This place is free to go, I suggest to go in the morning so you can stop at little entrances that are on the way to the Wall of tears. You can rent bikes to go there, try to go at the center of the road because theres something called "cacho de chivo" that could damage the wheels of the bike. The first entrance is a beach called "la playita" is very beautiful. Going in bike, I think you would be there in 30 min while you're going there you can see turtles on the road.
