Laguna Llaviucu — Attraction in Sayausí

This is a good place to go and hike. It's super close to Cuenca and not as far as Cajas, even though it is officially still Cajas. It's not the normal place people go to see Cajas. Once you turn off the main road there are several bumpy roads to take before you get to the Ranger Station. It's like a check in point. I didn't see that you have to pay anything. I was there on a field trip with my kid. It was a beautiful hike around the lake. We saw an Andean Tucán! I really like the wooden planks they had pretty much the whole way around so it wasn't too muddy. There is a beautiful wooden bridge on the far side of the lake that is good for a lunch spot. Ubicado en el Parque Nacional Cajas en La provincia del Azuay en Ecuador, muy cerca de la ciudad de Cuenca (aproximadamente a 20 minutos). La entrada a esta Laguna es por un camino empedrado y estrecho que cruza terrenos de sembríos y ganadería. Si bien el camino no es amplio, es seguro. Hay que tener paciencia cuando dos vehículos se cruzan. El lago es muy bonito, y tiene un sendero de recorrido a lo largo de su perímetro.
