________ This hike is outer worldly. It's an easy hike and the terrain here is incredibly diverse. You can witness the landscape change dramatically during a mere two-hour round trip. I paused many times during the hike to take in the fresh air. It's an utterly surreal experience, and there are even llamas at the start. If you have doubts just go you will not regret it. Moreover, Laguna Toreadora is very accessible. I took a bus from the Cuenca Bus Terminal for three dollars ($3), and the trip lasted 50 minutes. It's important to tell the driver that you want to get off at Laguna Toreadora. There are different buses you can take, and they depart almost every hour. To return, there's a bus stop across the street from the park. When I finished the hike, I simply waited and flagged down the buses heading back to Cuenca. The price for the return trip is also $3.

Very nice hike! Recommended to go in the morning. Busses depart the Terminal Terrestre at 6:15, 7, 8:30, 10:20 AM. Cost is $2.50 per person as of Aug 2022, took just over an hour. To get to the bus departure platform, you must insert a 0.10 cent coin, per person, to pass through the metal turn style gate. Register at the park office and show your passport or a photo copy. No proof of vaccination was needed. Washrooms available. Hike is easy-to-moderate level. On the way back, wait for a bus going in the direction of Cuenca and flag it down. Cost was $3 per person.

It's an extraordinary place in the heart of Cajas National Park. It takes 2.5 to 5 hours to walk around depending on the chosen path and your interest. The longer paths are more difficult but they are worth the effort. Also, consider walking more than once. The views change depending on the weather but the weather changes constantly.
