We really enjoyed our visit to Eglin Beach Park. You MUST have a DOD ID to enter. The beach is wide, clean, and peaceful—plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the day without big crowds. The boardwalk makes it easy to get to the sand, and the large pavilion was a great bonus. It had a good amount of seating and offered some nice shade for relaxing or enjoying a meal. The bathrooms and outdoor showers were also a big plus for convenience and cleanup. That said, there were a couple of surprises we wish we’d known ahead of time. Parking used to be free, but now costs $10. Not a huge deal, but their payment system was down when we visited, and they were only accepting cash. Thankfully we had cash but quite a few people had to leave because they didn’t bring any. This wasn’t mentioned anywhere on their Google listing, so a heads-up would have been helpful. Also, the bathrooms close at 4:30pm and the beach closes at 5:00pm, which feels a bit early—especially during summer when it stays light much later. Again, not a dealbreaker, just something we would’ve planned around had we known in advance. Overall, it’s a great spot if you have access—just make sure to bring cash and check for any updates before you go! The whole family had a BLAST!

Took a boat out just south of Eglin Beach Park and it was an unforgettable experience! This area is hands-down one of the best spots to see dolphins in Destin. Within minutes of getting out on the water, we spotted several pods swimming and playing nearby — some even came right up to the boat! The water is crystal-clear and the whole area feels peaceful and less crowded than other parts of Destin. It’s the kind of experience that makes you slow down and just take it all in. Highly recommend bringing a camera and maybe even some binoculars if you’re into wildlife watching. If you’re looking for a perfect boating destination with a chance to see dolphins in their natural habitat, this is it.

This beach came recommended by a friend who is a local. The beach itself is extremely clean and not crowded. The beach has a shallow entrance for many yards. The water was not so clear on our first day but the following day, it was crystal clear. Very beautiful. I'm docking a star for the cost. They charge $5 but they close at 5PM. The bathroom facilities could also use an update. The showers in particular. The toilets themselves were clean. For $5, I think the times could be extended and the showers could be more clean. Other than that, it's an excellent location and a beautiful beach.

As usual the children had fun. Stormy weather or not. This was our first time back since Irma and Maria and the beach still looks great although somewhat different. We now pay for parking which was not the case a couple years back. Overall, we will keep coming back from North Atlanta because aside from the surrounding fun for families, it is a family town for militaries. It gives you an air of safety. My icing on the cake will always be the glistening military beach bods under a bright sunny day.

The Elgin Beach Park is gorgeous! The huge, clean beach is composed of white sugar sand, and the water is crystal clear. Schools of tiny fish swim in the shallow water at the shore. Admission requires a DOD ID card. Parking costs $5 per vehicle. Beach umbrella and beach chair rentals are $5 each. The restrooms are clean and well-stocked. My husband and I enjoyed building sand castles on the beach, with two of our grandchildren. Recommended!

Came out this way on leave and was happy to find this place. DoD ID card holders only so it was clean. Unlike someone else review, I'll happily pay $3 than go to some run down, dirty and packed public beach. Not every DoD operated thing is free and it shouldn't be. $3 is a small fee that helps to fund its maintenance. If you want free then go to a free beach.
