Visited 11 October 2022 Included with the Cairo Pass. Located an hour south east of Giza is the Dahshur Necropolis and home to the Bent Pyramid. The site is surprisingly much less frequented by visitors and this gives the site a very favourable feel when there. There are no hawkers, no camels or horses either. This pyramid was built by Sneferu and was one of the two "failed" pyramids, the other one being located at Meidum. The builders incorrectly built it at the wrong inclination thus making it difficult to complete which is why the angle was amended midway in the structure. The Red Pyramid was Sneferu's last and most successful attempt at building a true pyramid. One can walk around the circumference of the pyramid and see the satellite pyramid on its south side and a funerary complex on the east side. Maybe you will also be able to see the native wildlife like the desert fox we saw near the satellite pyramid as well as bats inside the chambers. The shaft entrance is accessible by a wooden staircase. This shaft is a bit smaller than that of the Red Pyramid and crawling up and down is recommended. Please note that once inside the secondary chamber is accessible but some of the spaces are very tight so if claustrophobia is an issue best not to try and access it.

The Ruins of Memphis offer a fascinating glimpse into what was once one of the greatest capitals of ancient Egypt. Though little remains of the grandeur that once rivaled Thebes and later Alexandria, the site still carries immense historical weight. The highlight is undoubtedly the colossal statue of Ramses II, preserved in a covered hall. The sheer size and craftsmanship of the piece leave you in awe, and it gives you a real sense of the scale at which the ancient Egyptians worked. The alabaster sphinx nearby is another impressive piece, though time has worn down its details. The open-air museum layout makes it easy to walk through and see the artifacts, though the site itself is relatively small compared to other major Egyptian ruins. Many travelers combine a visit here with nearby Saqqara or Dahshur, which makes for a fuller experience of Egypt’s Old Kingdom heritage.

absolutely no tourists! You can have the whole pyramid to yourself. Unlike other pyramids, you can breathe here and the air is fresh. Of course, again, you need a bit of physical fitness, but nothing that can't be managed.

Awesome experience, check out the acoustic phenomena between the south facing wall and the satellite pyramid . Totally worth the climb down , then up the stairs, a scramble up a narrow passage then up one more flight of steps to the center of the pyramid where you will find beautiful bats...
