The Pharaonic Village The idea of the Pharaonic Village began with a dream where Dr. Hassan Ragab thought of creating a living museum that includes real people dressed in pharaonic costumes and embodying the ancient Egyptian life. Therefore , in 1974, Dr. Hassan Ragab began to transform Jacob's Island into a model closely matching the life of the ancient Egyptians . The first step was to plant nearly five thousand trees around the village to obscure the aspects of modern Cairo . Everywhere to get what he wanted from the unique flora and fauna and in the next six years, Dr. Ragab started In cultivating plants in the Egyptian soil, which served as a homeland for them thousands of years ago, Dr. Hassan was interested in the smallest details of importance about the life of the ancient Egyptian, and he was looking for answers to unanswered questions.

The wheel of work began to turn in the village. The noble’s house and garden, a market, a large field for cultivation and harvesting, a place for making boats, roads, farms, and in the middle a huge temple of white stone, which later turned out to be the emblem of the Pharaonic village, were established. In 1984, Dr. Hassan Ragab inaugurated Officially, the Pharaonic Village after work that lasted for 10 years at a cost of more than 6 million dollars

In 1989, Dr. Abdel Salam joined his father and participated in the management of the village. Dr. Abdel Salam Ragab confirmed that the village was not completed, but it is in the stage of development, as some years passed since the opening of the village, so that a model of the tomb of Tutankhamun opened, which became the only haven to see the tomb for those who are unable On visiting Luxor

In addition, Dr. Abdel Salam opened many museums (12 museums) that displayed many stages of Egypt's modern history, and therefore the village began to grow and transform into a place with a bright history.

• The idea of the Pharaonic village is based on bringing the ancient Egyptian times closer to the visitor, where the visitor passes at the beginning of his visit to representatives wearing pharaonic costumes and imitating the ancients in making papyrus , hunting, drawing, sculpting, agriculture, mummification and so on.

Journey to the past

The trip begins with entering the village and buying tickets from the ticket office at the gate, then the reception float, which contains a small cafeteria to receive visitors and an exhibition of some ancient and pharaonic products. On the top floor of the reception float there is the Cleopatra Museum, where the tour guide explains to you about the reign of Cleopatra and Julius Caesar , And the struggle that took place in that era, after watching the Cleopatra Museum, your journey begins inside the village since you board the floating boat, the floating boat moves inside the water channels surrounding the Pharaonic village, during that tour you get to know the gods of the ancient Egyptians, a scene about the Prophet Moses and information about the papyrus plant And methods of manufacturing and converting it into paper, and an overview of the methods of embalming and making paper, pottery, glass and weapons, and information about methods of agriculture, irrigation and hunting whenPharaohs , methods of drawing and hieroglyphic writing , all of this information you hear and see representative scenes that simulate the past, to bring the picture closer and simulate the life of the ancient Egyptians and all the details of their lives.

Museums in the Pharaonic Village

The most characteristic of the Pharaonic village after the trip on the floating boat are the various museums that deal with all the history of ancient and modern Egypt. There is the Ptolemaic Museum , the Heritage Museum, the tomb of Tutankhamun, the Beliefs Museum, the Boat Museum, the Islamic Museum, the Museum of President Mohamed Naguib, the first president of Egypt, the museums of Gamal Abdel Nasser and Sadat , and the Pyramids Museum. The Coptic Museum , the Mummification Museum, the Museum of Modern Egypt Napoleon...

Very Nice place , take you a journey to the past The Pharaonic village has museums beside the cruise tour to see some examples of the occupations was hold for the people at the pharaonic time like the producing perfumes, burdi , fishing and farming etc .. it was very interesting and educational place, and there is a small market with hand made things nice for gifts also there is a photographer for taking lots of photos if you wanna with pharaohs clothes For kids there is a place for painting and adventure to discover small temples from the sand Finally it so amazing place. This place tries to being back a lost era and practices of the ancient Egyptian people. The symbol alphabet, fire making practice, glass blowing, papyrus paper, dressing, cultivation and other ways of life. It has sculptures of various prophets and royalty. It also has the area where Moses was found based on the Bible story. It's like a walk through history with live people replaying the ways of life of the ancient Egyptians. It's very lovely to watch this while being ferried across. We had an English instructor who explained everything as we got to each landmark. After the ferry ride we got into the real village and observed many many things including going into houses of dead royalties and seeing how they lived and some of their personal belongings. The Egyptian culture is one that holds great wonders and never ceases to amaze me each time l'm exposed to it. So if you really want to go back in time to the pharaonic era, this is a must visit for you and also great for photography. Some areas offer ancient wears for you to take pictures with looking like a pharaoh at a price. I'm not sure how much because I didn't partake in this. Enough said, why not take a trip to this village and see for yourself and I'm sure you will love it. I went during the winter so it wasn't so hot staying out for too long. The village represents a model of Ancient Egypt and mimic the life of ancient Egyptians, there is a lot of museums and a replica for king Tut's tomb and many other aspects of life in Ancient Egypt with historical stories that describe their life, there is also entertainment activities like escape the tomb "horror house", 9D cinema and yacht trips *Ticket prices ranges from 130 for to 200 LE for entrance and yacht trip. One of the most beautiful attractions in Cairo, and worth every minute you spend there. Starting from the Nile tour where they visually and audible illustrations of the history and their stories. Afterwards, showing the ancient egypt traditions and how they planted and manufacture their tools and equipments. Not to forget to mention the museum and the villages. Simply amazing.Great experience for my four young children. We were visiting from the United States and this gave them an excellent taste of Egyptian history. We did package 3 which included a tour of the village on a ferry, visits to smaller museums inside, an art and craft experience, and playground and 4D movie. Make this one of your stops if you're traveling with children. The playground could use some updating as some of the rides were not working.Nice experience I loved culture museum and the Nile boat ride A.bit pricy for what you get Tour guide didn't provide much info It was so hot outside . take lots of water and cooling towels Overall, nice experience and great way to spend few hours You get a boat ride which is a bonus Don't pick any extras .. just choose...

So we visited today the village & we decided to go with the highest package which include the tour (we asked for English tour) , food (drinks not included), museums & yacht trip in the Nile. We added the pharaohs, scary escape room with extra charge to have a little fun.

1- For the tour, it took us 30 mins to start the tour since we asked for an English tour guide which was fine with us to wait. 2- the food: the food was fine. It was two options between grilled chicken & kofta. The only thing that bothered us, a lot of flies inside the restaurant which doesn’t look good at all. 3- Toilets were clean but don’t get the idea behind not finding a toilet papers anywhere😂. 5- The yacht trip: they told us that we need to be 3 o’clock there but it took them around 30+ mins to get the engine started. It was not a fun trip for us, boring and the view was ugly. We didn’t enjoy. 6- the escape room was OMG😂. A 10 mins dark room with no technology or any assistance. I felt sorry for the lady who was responsible of that room because she was trying to help us finish in 10 mins & also be part of the entertainment. She even was doing scary noises to complete the experience for us😂. Really I appreciate her hard work but it’s a no no and don’t recommend it.

Finally I gave them 4 stars for all these notes. Although these little things but it was really a great experience and I will recommend it to others but for sure, I will tell the pros & cons. I also wanna thank the tour guide who was part of the experience today, I think her name was Alzahraa. She did a great job & she was nice...

I loved the concept of the place - almost like a walk-through, interactive ancient Egypt, however the place was obviously quite old and run down. There were some stops along the tour which were "bazaars"which was annoying, and I was disappointed in how pushy they were, as I was looking forward to just having a chill time learning about ancient Egyptian civilisation. Might have been more lively on a weekend maybe? And not so pushy as we wouldn't have been the only people in the bazaar? Probably more-so somewhere to go if you have kids. Definitely recommend buying tickets online beforehand, as there are no tickets prices displayed and all the options seemed confusing and dodgy. Also wouldn’t recommend buying anything from the bazaars as it is very overpriced. The "hand-blown glassware"? You can get the exact same things at the markets for at least half the price. I did quite like the recreation of when they found Tutankhamun's tomb, I thought that was very interesting. Also be aware that you are not allowed to take cameras in, so if you have one they will make you put it in a locker until you return.
