Beautiful to see! We went at sunrise and there were no other people there, we stayed for 2 hours and had all pools to ourselves. There are many salt lakes so you can walk around and find which one you would like to swim in. They are obviously very very salty so you do not stay long in the water- just a few minutes to experience it and get some pictures but it's not a place to stay for a swim, as your body quickly becomes itchy from the salt. Do not put your head underwater. There is a tap and hose with fresh water to rinse off afterwards, but if your guide doesn't know where this is (it seems a lot of people thought theres no fresh water to rinse), then best to bring some fresh water to rinse off just in case. Entry is free. The place is actually a working salt mine so there are diggers and workers, however there were none operating there when we went early in the morning. There are no shops and no toilet so bring everything you need. There is also no shade and it will get very hot in the middle of the day (at least it was when we...

Like nowhere I have ever seen on earth. I rated this activity five stars, but there are some things that you should be aware of. The salt is highly concentrated so even putting your head under with your eyes closed is going to sting A LOT. And even if you blow air out of your nostrils salt, water will get in. You will also find cuts that you didn’t know that you had. The salt will also scratch you and create new wounds to sting. Once you start to dry off your skin will sparkle. And once you are completely dry, it will turn white. If you know how to swim, this will be very awkward. But it’s perfect if you don’t know how to swim because it is...

It's one of the best experiences in Egypt for me .. floating at the salt lakes of Siwa.. Please be very sure what to expect from the place. The salt lakes is the place where the locals extract salt. Not all the lakes are big enough, in fact only a few had that crystal clear blue turquoise water. Else it's a rough terrain with tractors .. and no, you can't swim at those lakes .. not only because it makes you float, but also because even a tiny drop of water will burn your eyes and then your skin. But if you love rustic places with no one around, and experience mini dead seas, it's the...
