Blown away by the experience of the salt lakes. It is beautiful and despite the water being so cold, it was worth going for a swim. Fascinating place. Try to drive around first before finding your spot. You can have the entire salt lake to yourself and find some really nice ones. Lovely experience. Loved every moment of it. Tip: bring water shoes if possible to avoid any cuts. It hurts a lot to walk on the salt. Otherwise, bring flip flops and try to remove them as close as possible to the water. Another tip is to wear your swimsuit beforehand as there is nowhere to change. Also keep some freshwater with you, in case any salt water gets into your eyes, as it burns.

Absolutely loved the experience at Siwa Salt Lakes! The water in the lakes was insanely blue and crystal clear. You can float effortlessly, which is such a fun and surreal feeling. Just a heads-up though: the water stings your eyes, so try not to splash around too much. Also, once you’re out, salt sticks all over your body, so keep some water handy to rinse off. Totally worth it - one of the highlights of Siwa!

The Siwa Oasis is home to freshwater springs and salty lakes alike, most notably Birket Elmaraqi (Elmaraqi Pond) and Birket Siwa (Siwa Pond). These lakes are so salty that no marine life could ever survive in them, and the salt crystals are visible...
