Cinquera Forest Ecological Park — Attraction in Departamento de Cabañas

Bosque de Cinquera is forest which has grown only since the commencement of the El Salvadoran Civil War of 1975 to 1995. Farming in the area ceased at the beginning of hostilities.

Local guerrillas established a hospital here. The remains of a "Vietnamese Kitchen" can be seen, where smoke from cooking fires for the hospital was routed underground and diffused to protect against aerial bombardment.

Biologists are studying the reestablishment of the forest ecosystem.

The site is used for historical education.

There are several miles of trails which are well made and marked.

Buen lugar para pasar un día entero conocer historia y otros hechos, tambien para ver animales nacionales y buenos paisajes. ahora viene lo importante. llegar temprano para poder bañarte en la poza principal. la vista desde el mirador no es muy buena, pero igual es una hermosa vista. las distancias en los letreros están muy mal, a veces era mas cerca y otras muy lejos. si llegas tarde lo mejor es ignorar la primera poza y viajar con lo justo a la cascada de la bruja. tengan cuidado con los caminos que van hacia la derecha, hay mucho desprendimiento de tierra y aunque sea una aventura no es muy seguro los visitantes locales no respetan las reglas, pasaron con música en los senderos, botaron mucha basura, y pasaron bebiendo, creando un habiente poco bueno para un área natural protegida.

Es recomendado pero lastimosamente no fue una experiencia tan buena por el ultimo punto. Si alguien de la administración ve esto, tomen...
