Ok, so a few things to know about this incredible spot. First, definitely get a guide. This is not the place to try to go by yourself unless you just want to see one waterfall and get absolutely lost looking for the others. We are a couple in our early 50’s , fairly fit but not super fit( both have little bellies) I’m saying this to give you an idea of what fitness level you will need to do the full tour. We found it quite challenging and it really stretched us to the outside edge of our agility and strength. We found ourselves half way up a pretty serious alpine climb (no aids) on the face of one of the waterfalls , looking at each other and realizing that we certainly can’t go down and going up was daunting. The guide points out footholds and handholds and such but considering that it is about a 70-80 degree face, one slip and you’re going to end up becoming another stupid tourist story. There was a point where we both got sewing machine leg(that uncontrollable shake) and had to calm ourselves down before continuing. Now, having said all of this, the views are breathtaking, the feeling of accomplishment is tremendous and I would wholeheartedly recommend this if you are fairly fit., I’ll post some pics of us so you can see our size. If you are not too coordinated definitely do not go on this full tour. Ask for the easy tour!!! Our guide was named Elizabeth Hernandez and she brought her 7 year old son Christian who can climb up these cliffs like a mountain goat! It cost us $50 for the tour and it took about 3 hours overall with swim stops, stops to spread our bodies with clay (spa like) etc. I repeat this is not a tour for the faint of heart or those who have a fear of heights. There are literally no safety precautions built into the sides of the cliffs. Our guide brought a rope that she would climb up and attach in certain precarious spots to give us some semblance of safety while climbing but in those areas you almost need both of your hands to maintain hsndholds so really the rope wasn’t all that helpful. The guide was super friendly and helpful and taught us tons about the local flora and fauna. I speak Spanish so was able to converse well with her but she said for tours where it’s English only, her sister does those yours as she speaks some English. I hope this review helps you to decide whether or not to go. We didn’t do our homework before going so ended up right in the middle of a super challenging situation without any real preparation both mentally and physically. In the end we will of course pat ourselves on the back for not dying and are now drinking a nice rum and coke in...

Such a great tour and a beautiful hike! We got a great day for it and the scenery was stunning. I wished I hadn’t read some of the reviews on here saying how dangerous and difficult it is, there was only one section that was a slightly tough climb (the 4th waterfall) and the rest was mainly walking through other waterfalls on the flat or admiring them from afar. I went in nervous because of these but it’s such a manageable and not an intimidating hike if you are even moderately fit and have decent shoes, so absolutely go for it! It’s excellent value at $10, that includes your transport there and back from Juayua town, your guide and a snack. Our guide was Yesenia Elisabeth (WhatsApp 7409 5866) and she was excellent! She took so many great pictures of us all, was really patient and helpful when we were climbing and stopped to tell us about the plants and trees on the walk - highly recommend! Especially since she waited for us after we were really late when our guide moved us to this earlier group last minute the morning of. This is a must do on the ruta...

One of our favourite experiences in El Salvador. The hike itself probably took 1.5 hours then we spent 30-60 minutes taking pictures and swimming. In my opinion you must have a guide, it would be very difficult to navigate the hike without one (there are many barbed wire fences trying to keep tourists without guides out of the hike). We went with Elizabeth’s company, we messaged her on WhatsApp the night before +503 6113 7277 her brother speaks English and was awesome. We met him in town then had to drive down a dirt road to get to the trailhead, a bit of a rough road but our sedan made it. Absolutely gorgeous views, wonderful waterfalls and a great swimming area. We went later in the day and we were the only ones at the swimming area. You have to cross streams quite a few times so your shoes will get wet, I recommend shoes with good grip! We also climbed a waterfall, which was a bit scary but our guide brought a rope and showed us the way. Would not recommend if you’re afraid of heights or climbing. Overall such a great...

Absolutely gorgeous — would highly recommend tagging low churros on after the 7 cascadas. There are guides in Juayua who will take you to the 7 cascadas and los chorros for $10 USD per person, as the two parts are very close. You have to either drive to the entrance or take a tuktuk, and it's about a 15 min walk to the entrance. Las 7 cascadas are filled with trash but are still absolutely worth the visit too. Also worth noting — you I’ll be walking calf-deep in running water many times. Prepare to get your shoes soaked through. BRING SHOES WITH GRIP as the fourth cascade has to be physically climbed and was one of the sketchiest things I have done in a while. The guide told us where to put our feet etc but we still did not feel confident, and we have a lot of experience with hiking in different terrain. It’s absolutely worth it, but just be aware that you need good footwear and that it will get wet.
