We took the boat ride around sunset to the Isla El Ermitano and it was such a great experience. Our boatman/guide was extremely sweet and helpful, he explained us the importance and history of the island using translation apps as we didn’t speak Spanish and he didn’t speak English. We saw the plane crash site after a little walk up the hill and since it was too dark to go down using the stair, he got us back in boat and then turned the other way around to show us the cave down below as well as buy something from the souvenir shop. Overall, we had a great time, this tour lasted about an hour and was priced at $25 for the entire boat, we were just 2 people so it felt like more of a private tour for us. Definitely recommend checking out this place and opt for other destinations too dependent on the time.

Great boat tour coming out of Suchitoto (it costs $20 for up to 10 people. There are other tours that cost up to $35). It last between 30min to an hour. Nelson, the boat driver, tells the story of a small air force plane that crashed in the lake, killing 3 of their 4 passengers and the tour includes a visit to the crash site right in the middle of the lake as ther eis an anchored memorial over there. The visit to the island allows a small break to drink either water or soda while some of the histories from Suchitoto or the plane are told. His wife and son are great hosts. I'll definitely come back with some friends.
