Kõpu Lighthouse is one of the most impressive lighthouses I have visited. It is the third-oldest continuously operating lighthouse in the world. This massive stone tower was completed as a lighthouse in 1649. It was not until 1810 that an internal staircase was built there. Today there are 117 steps to the top and the upper room of the lighthouse houses an interesting photo exhibition about the history of lighthouses. Read moreNow this place is nothing short of spectacular. Built in the 1500s it's one of the oldest lighthouses in Europe! The stairs are very steep getting up, it's tough work, but it's really worth it. Very big open platform at the top with really wonderful views across Hiiumaa. Read moreNice to visit and I am glad, I followed all the recommendations from locals coming here! It's a solid tower with an interesting history of how it was built in earlier times. I will not spoil and recommend you take a bit of time to dive a bit deeper into history after climbing a few steep stairs to the top! It's good to walk, you should feel safe on stairs.
