My subjective opinion : Do not consider this place as a classic museum : some displays are way too dense and your eye cannot really appreciate one particular piece of art among others. This is true for the main classic paintings . For more contemporary, density is not a problem or even low depending the rooms. But the exhibition is displayed unconventionally anyway
Two things are remarkable: -all artists that are exposed here are Estonian. -the museum is actually an old fish plant factory and it makes very agreeable the way the paintings are displayed.
The more the room are exotic or strange, the more we have contemporary art with some paintings that grasp your attention, for sure. Very good place...
Read moreI thought 6 euros per adult was reasonable until I realized how small the museum is. It took us about an hour to see it and we weren't rushing. I was actually taking notes, carefully looking for anything that I could use for a project I'm working on. Much of the art was a bit morbid for me, even grotesque at times. But I am a highly sensitive person so it may not have the same effect on others. I will say that there were some beautiful landscape pieces and a couple ballerina paintings that were pleasant to look at. Everyone reacts to art differently so you'll have to see for yourself if it's worth it for you. It was interesting to see some Estonian history reflected in the paintings if you're into that.
