Lovely place, awful manager.
As an arts center, it's a great place to work, listen to and see art.
This artist residency has workshops, concerts and Art Exhibitions (photography, sculpture, etc. ) open to the public. Impressive sculpture garden!
As a former artist in residence during Covid, I would like to say that I spent a nightmarish time there. I am an artist with autoimmune, and whilst the director and the community manager (who is also a rapper) are dope and professional, the house manager hates on artists, and shouldn't be in this position imho.
He had issues with an Indian artist before me, and he drove me to the point of nightmares there. As if covid, and the resulting autoimmune flare and the pressure on me in a first time residency hadn't been enough.
The worst part was that when I gave my screenwriting workshop- a technique he hadn't been familiar with before me- he basically took over and ran the workshop by himself. I was constantly feeling like battling the odds at every imaginable level.
I tried to alert the issue, but, alas.. Estonia and a male dominated board. You know the story.
When I was asked to contribute to their guest book (with recipes), I instead decided to put a wrapped in paper, dead butterfly into the book as a comment.
When they made that book into a print version, I received an email asking why they couldn't find my contribution.
No reply needed on my part. Sometimes an objet trouve...
