We arrived there by car. The approach to the tower has probably not been updated, repaired or renovated since the 1950s. On the way to the long stairs, on the left, we went into a nice hut-shop, found and bought a couple of interesting souvenirs (decorations) there. Then we got out of there and began to climb the stairs higher - to the tower. At its foot there is a beautiful engraving on the wood - a man playing the kannel (Estonian traditional musical instrument). When we got there, we did not immediately understand where the entrance was at all, because there was no clear indication - just 2 doors - on the left and on the right. After rummaging around at both doors, we decided to go to the left. At the entrance sat a grandmother - a cashier, as if she had come to us from somewhere in the 1970s. Not very polite: for 5 seconds she just stared at us with an unhappy look, I could not bear it anymore and said hello first, then she said hello in response. There was also a type of souvenir shop inside - wretched, half empty, but what is there is some kind of nonsense and souvenirs that are difficult to bring home - some nondescript things (old-looking Indian dream catchers, badges... - all dull and unattractive). We took the elevator and when the ride ended and further up you needed to climb the stairs - the stairs are shabby, worn, and since it was raining, they turned out to be wet and slippery and we almost fell and rolled down.

From the top, however, a beautiful and breathtaking view opens up! And you immediately forget about all the negativity. You can take great photos and enjoy the views.

On the way back, at the very bottom of the mountain, next to the parking lot, we went to a cafe. Approximately 5 people sat and drank some tea, some - coffee, and children were running around. The cashier and the waitress did not care at all that we came. Well, we saw some tiny 1m2 counter, where, again, some miserable souvenirs were sold (including some old faded postcards with a view of the tower, incomprehensible tinctures, ridiculous trinkets). Prices for everything are rather high. The place seems to be not bad, but somehow chaotic. No one even talked to us. We turned around and left.

In conclusion we can say: we travel a lot and have been to different places around the world and that for such an attraction as Munamägi - one of the main ones from South Estonia! - landscaping around and organized for tourists is - bad. There are a couple of businesses next to the tower (a souvenir shop and a cafe), but somehow it all could have been better thought out and organized, more interaction for the tourists and modern touch could have been applied. The only place where we were welcome was that souvenir shop in the middle of the stairs where the saleswoman smiled at us and was friendly (where we eventually spent part...

Highest peak of Estonia which translates as 'Big Nuts Mountain’. No wonder they put a phallic shaped tower there with two egg shaped buildings on the both sides of the tower. Overall too commercialised and civilised so ruining explorer spirit of the peak. The stairs to peak are still in Soviet style would have preferred a serpentine walking trail. Pricing is bit expensive to limit visitors. Top of tower is in disrepair as water is leaking in. Estonians even painted brick walls to make it even worse as now paint is peeling off so will have never...

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I love outdoor activities or being in the forest and this was just for me. A few too many stairs but I managed, boyfriend enjoyed it as well! The prices are reasonable and it’s a lovely vie from the top.

We went rather early in the morning so there were just 6/8 of us in total at the top, but I could see how it can get crowded if it’s really busy.

There was also a cafe at the top and at the bottom. The bottom cafe sold a lovely rhubarb drink that was very refreshing after walking...

Our visit was nice, as the site was not busy and we could enjoy the view from the top without other people. The price is rather high for simply climbing the tower as the interactive screens were out of order. In addition, I would like to suggest to add English descriptions to the temporary exhibition. The small gift shop had many local and very interesting souvenirs to buy.
