We came to see the famous Panga Cliffs, which are part of the Silurian Klint. We left the car in a nearby parking lot and walked through the recreation area to the path that runs along the edge of the cliff. The cliff is about 20 meters high and the path continues along it for several kilometers. There are no guardrails, so walking along the edge of the cliff is at your own risk. The view is stunning though.

Absolutely loved this place! We were alone in the evening, the atmosphere was serene, complete silence. The sun lights everything up in golden color. There are paths along the coast line, but you don't have to walk far away to feel the place. Recommend, especially during good weather.

A truly beautiful place, with a tranquil feel to it. The cliffs are not very high compared to the similar ones in e.g. Germany, but I liked that I could climb down these ones with a rope! [Although not dangerous yet, one section of the rope seemed pretty worn out; maybe check on it just in case.]

Note that going up the rope is much easier than descending, in case you're worried about being able to return.

I was a bit surprised how Spartan the services appeared, despite this being one of the tourist hotspots of the island. A single hotel, an unclimbable metal tower, some toilets and a few covered dining tables -- and that's it. Things will pick up somewhat in high season, I'd expect.

Notably it was unclear whether camping is allowed anywhere. The vast, sunlit field before the dining area was very enticing, and I saw no signs anywhere that prohibited it. But neither were there any tents up, so I...

Saaremaa's highest cliffs can be found on the north coast near Panga. The Panga Cliff is the highest point of the three-kilometer-long cliff coast at 21.3 meters. In earlier times, this was a sacred place where people made offerings to the sea god. A beautiful place with wide views, but the cliffs themselves are difficult to see (because you are standing on top of them of course). A boat trip is the best option to admire the cliffs. Fortunately, there is also plenty to see in the forests of the small peninsula, such as the remains of the military presence of the...
