the merkato in addis abeba is known as the biggest market in africa. indeed, the experience is great! you will find here literally everything (that’s why it’s useless to name all the products here). it’s not only a marketplace, it’s also the place where most of the products are fabricated. a huge „recycling“ place, where used materials are transformed in new products. to find the final price you’ll have to bargain of course. whenever you’re in addis abeba, this place is a must. just one advice: don’t follow anybody who offers you his services (e.g. showing you around or leading you to special areas) unless you know the person!
