Awash National Park — Attraction in Afar Region

Lovely, easy to access park providing opportunity to see many wild animals in their natural environment. The typography along the gorge for the Awash river is striking & epic! Complete letdown. The roads inside the park are so bad that even our 4x4 struggled. We barely saw any animals despite being told there were plenty of chances to see wildlife. The park feels neglected, with outdated facilities and broken-down viewpoints. Our guide seemed bored and unprepared, offering very little insight. Bathrooms were filthy and unusable. Not much to write home about. The park isn't really well enough maintained to provide an actual area for wildlife so there are very few animals around.
