This was my first visit & adventure with River Tubing Fiji, Navua. The trip was a Work Retreat, to bond with our Team Leaders & Managers alike on a mutual ground (titles aside). To get there, is a good 45min bus ride🚍 from Suva to Navua. So for us we arranged a bus to transport us there. Definitely a beautiful place to escape from the hustle of a busy city life. Change of scenery does do wonders from seeing the four corners of your office🥴. If you planning to go with a group of friends or work mates, its preferrable to go in a group of 45 or more as discount is offered - if i heard correctly. Anyways, the team & management of River Tubing Fiji offerred refreshments upon arrival and if you wanting to buy other things such a fizzy drinks, alcohol etc..mode of paynent available on site is Mpaisa💳 apart from cash💵. There is no ATM machine on site so FYI. Briefing is done on site before each person is given a life jacket. Yes! That is one of the first rule - Life Jacket is a must whether you know how to swim or not. Ones life & safety to and fro during the trip is paramount. We even arranged a Medic to accompany us - yeah we went prepared. There was attendance 📋🖊 taken & passed around to be filled by visitors who attend the expedition. You sign as you arrive & sign off upon completing the trip. Long story short, the trip begins by going up river by boat (punt)🛶...say a good 4km upstream then you will stop half way through to make a 5-10min walk as the punts carry the tube afew mtrs upstream due to rapid river waves (come across 2) before we board again to continue the boat trip. The amazing part is where the River Tubing Team takes you uphill to the waterfall to enjoy a nice cold swim - so relaxing before everyone tubes downstream. However, before you do, theres a beautiful spot where you stop over for lunch - meals are prepared on an open fire (barbecue drumstick), salad, bread, cassava, fried sausages, fruits & juice. The food was definitely lovely🥰 & filling👌 - the best part for me was the "roasted pumpkin" 😍 that hit the spot alright. Apparently everyone else agreed too so yeah👍. Good music, beautiful scenery and great company..what more could you ask for. The River Tubing Team who accompanied us through out the expedition was so helpful, patient and understanding that we ENJOYED everybit of it, even our non-swimmers felt safe and enjoyed themselves too whether we were in the water or not. We arrived back safely at the site slightly after 4pm, rooms are provided for those who need to change, even a hot cuppa milo or coffee with cookies. Those that want fizzy drinks - restocked for purchase then a group photo to end the day. So a massive THANK YOU and SHOUT OUT to the River Tubing Fiji Team. Till next...
Read morewe were picked up in a mini bus with worse leg room than an airplane, which makes for a very uncomfortable journey if you are tall. The driver was lovely though. We travelled quite a while to the area where we get our river tubes, and plastic garbage bags to protect our items from water than finds its way into the boat when going up river. A short walk down to the boats to transport us along the Navau river. The boats are pretty tight for space.
The Navua river is very pretty and we passed multiple stunning waterfalls, and hill views on our journey. We stopped and walked a path around rapids, then back on the boat to the village. Sabata village in the highlands was small, but very friendly, and this is one of the villages the river tubing experience money goes to help out. The residents here allow full entry into their homes, but for me I felt that it would be incredibly intrusive to walk through someones home when I do not know them. A walk back to the boats from the village, then onto the waterfall and swimming hole.
The swimming hole at the waterfall was great, and we were lucky enough to see a cliff diver there, then a walk back through the forest on sometimes a narrow pathway, to the boats and off for lunch. Lunch was ok, with plenty of food.
From here it was onto the river tubing with brief instructional 'how to' from a guide, the large group of approx 57 was off tubing down the river and through some rapids. Most of the water is very calm, and tubing through the rapids was my favourite part. There was a stop amongst the hills in the river for the guides to sing, the acoustics were excellent and the voices very sweet. There is about 40 minutes tubing on the river before getting back onto the boats for what seemed a long journey back to the bus area.
There is a photographer taking many many photos, which for $20 FJD, they will email you a link. It is worth it, however you need to download every photo (4 gig worth. 650 pics) before you can choose the ones you wish to keep, That is a very poor system, other places will allow you to choose your preferred pics from a site, then download them.
The buses are in a big rush to leave on the return which means unless you are super quick to grab a beverage and biscuits, you completely miss out.
Overall, an experience I would recommend despite its expense (and it...
Read moreThis tour is awesome. Guides are fun very informative and great at making sure your experience is a good one.... We were picked up from the shangri la at 730am with a few other people from near nadi. The driver was right on time and drove us quite safely compared to some other operators on the road. Once we arrived we were greated with tea coffee and biscuits signing in and a introduction to guides and saftey talk. After being kitted out with our tube and jackets it was a short walk to the boats we were helped in a taken up the river in groups each group having a guide and driver that you stay with the whole day. You do need to jump out and walk past some rapids to let the boats get to the other side, once back into the boat we stopped at were lunch is served to drop off the people to prepare lunch while you continue to the village. The guides do explain the basics of village life and culture. There are somethings that need to be respected in the village that the guides explain clearly please respect them. After the village it is back into the boats and off to a beautiful waterfall for a swim after a short walk up some stairs and pathway. After our swim it was time for a awesome lunch 😋 and a rest. The guides make sure everyone has a feed and enough to drink before heading down river... After lunch everyone meets at the river bank for the tubing experience after a short talk. The tubing is fun relaxing and exciting with all the guides staying with their groups and keeping a eye on everything and everyone. All the guides are friendly fun and helpful. I did notice they all seem to have a extensive knowledge of the river, how it flows and the land, aswell as ready to jump in and hold your hand or bag at any stage making the whole day safe and enjoyable for everyone. Once we made it back to where we started, we made our way to the change rooms and coffee tea biscuits were on offer once again. Back on the bus to be taken back to our accommodation. we got back to our hotel around 530pm. So depending on where you stay it can be a long day but worth it...
I totally recommend anyone coming to fiji book...
