One of a kind church thanks to its unique paintings by local artist Pellervo Lukumies made in 1972-73. Back then it was a huge scandal, the parrish even resigned from his job because he got so upset as the art differed so much from what church art traditionally looked like.This is as far away from white washing as you can get. Lukumies studied the bible and painted biblical characters and angels looking like humans from all corners of the world. He figured God has created everyone and loves everyone equallt much, thus the oaintings features native americans, induans, asians, africans in traditional apparels.
