Raatteen vartiomuseo oli pysäyttävä ja vaikuttava kokemus. Pienikokoinen rakennus kätkee sisälleen valtavan määrän historiaa ja tunnetta. Esineistö oli huolella koottu, ja erityisesti alkuperäiset aseet, univormut ja kartat toivat sodan todellisuuden lähelle. Myös museon sijainti – keskellä korpea, aivan taisteluiden tapahtumapaikkojen vieressä – toi aidon ja koskettavan tunnelman. Oppaat olivat asiantuntevia ja ystävällisiä, ja heidän kertomuksensa tekivät käynnistä vieläkin merkityksellisemmän. Täällä todella ymmärtää, mitä suomalaiset joutuivat käymään läpi Raatteen tiellä.
