Murtovaara Forest Farm Museum — Attraction in Pielinen Karelia

Fantastic opportunity to see how crown forest crofters (self-sustaining tenant farmers) used to live since almost 200 years until the early 20th century. Heikki, the guide, has an exceptionally fun and captivating way of sharing the history of the place and story of its residents, all the way from the early 19th century to 1985, when Hilja, the last resident, whom Heikki new personally, passed away. Quite a drive to get there, but a beautiful one, and a nice little walk (just a few hundred meters) to get there from the parking at the end of the dirt road - totally worth the effort, warmly...

Kaunis ja ylväs rakennus tarjoaa matkalaiselle monenlaista nähtävää. Kunnon kahvit ja pullat saa pirtissä ja opastus ja uutta tietoa vanha asuinpaikka. Raha kannattaa ottaa mukaan, jos haluaa ostaa muistoa. Itse käytin käteistä rahaa en tiedä onko korttimaksu mahdollista. Luonto matkalla tilalle on upea ja mikä parasta. Käsidesi on ja huusi on siisti. Hyvä tällaisella ajalla. Opastus kannattaa ottaa, siinä saa paljon enemmän ja oppii tuntemaan tämän paikan historiaa. Uusia asioita ja mitä ei ollut ennen tiennyt....
