Salamajärvi national park offers varied terrain to explore, everything from sheltered lakes and rivers to dry weeds and rocky outcrops. A lucky adventurer might bump into a deer or two on their way through the park. The area contains meadows suitable for tent camping and even sports a couple of open huts for any tired traveller to rest in.

While it might be lacking in any grandiose spectacles in terms of attractions, the winding footpaths in the park offer a great look into finnish natural beauty.

A small word of warning for drivers: Some of the parking areas for the park can be hard to find based solely on the information available online. Make sure you know the exact location of the parking area and the route to it beforehand to avoid any hassle in finding your way to your...

Salamajärvi National Park offers a good variety of circular trails, longer trails, and nature’s tranquility. It’s quite far from the cities and major roads, making the trails quiet. They are equipped with campfire sites and lean-to shelters. If you’re lucky, you might spot a Finnish forest reindeer; there are over 1,000 of them roaming the forests of Suomenselkä. Even the shorter circular trails, like Metsäperäläinen Circle Trail (Metsäperäläisen Taival) and Pahapuro Circle Trail (Pahapuron Lenkki), feature a diverse mix of mires, pine forests, and lakeside scenery. Salamajärvi is one of my favorite national parks in Finland. I highly recommend it for a couple of hours’ hike or a longer trek. The Koirasalmi Nature Information Hut is a great place to...

Looking for a place to watch the sunset we come here and we make it in sandals, the ways are pretty comfort

If is not to much sunlight i recommend be careful with the little frogs on the way, the move out by themself no worries

For a full explore hike i recommend good waterproof shoes and mosquito repellent

The signal for phone is not working at some point, so prepare your maps, take a picture of the one in the begins or just be free...

Loistava paikka. Monia reittejä ja eri pituisia. Osa vaativia ja kivisiä. Myös helppoja löytyy. Syksyllä kahvila oli kiinni. Omilla epäillä patikoitiin ja nuotio paikkoja löytyi.
