Salamajärvi national park offers varied terrain to explore, everything from sheltered lakes and rivers to dry weeds and rocky outcrops. A lucky adventurer might bump into a deer or two on their way through the park. The area contains meadows suitable for tent camping and even sports a couple of open huts for any tired traveller to rest in.
While it might be lacking in any grandiose spectacles in terms of attractions, the winding footpaths in the park offer a great look into finnish natural beauty.

They are equipped with campfire sites and lean-to shelters. If you’re lucky, you might spot a Finnish forest reindeer; there are over 1,000 of them roaming the forests of Suomenselkä. Even the shorter circular trails, like Metsäperäläinen Circle Trail (Metsäperäläisen Taival) and Pahapuro Circle Trail (Pahapuron Lenkki), feature a diverse mix of mires, pine forests, and lakeside scenery.
