Lauhanvuori National Park — Attraction in Suupohja sub-region

There is a lot to see here, but it requires a longer hike (or trailrun/bike ride) to go around the whole park to see it all. Huge flat fields full of stones, an absolutely massive boulder (Aumakivi), lush forests and marshlands. And then there is a tower in the middle of the park for a wider view over the surrounding areas.

There are also few springs here and there to drink from.

Beginning of June is one of the best periods to visit the park as the plants and flowers all around the marshlands are popping up in their full glory. Hare's-tail cottongrass usually pops up in large numbers if weather conditions...

Did the geo biking track with fat bikes. The are is so beautiful. The untouched moss and lichen are gorgeous. The pond side respite area is lovely. They have firewood and a place to safely make a bonfire. Roasted marshmallows and took a cooling dip in the waters that were believed to be healing in olden times. Refreshing...

Lauhanvuori on omanlaisensa ja sinänsä mielenkiintoinen paikka, historiansa - entinen saari - ja Kivijatan eli pirunpellon vuoksi. Täällä Lauhanvuoren rinteillä lauhan ilman vuoksi on aloitettu myös perunanviljelyä 1800-luvun alussa. Alempana kun oli ainainen hallanvaara. Entisissä rantamaisemissa kävellessä ihmettelimme että miksi ihmiset eivät kerää tatteja, joita täällä oli melko runsaasti - mekään emme keränneet sillä kotiinmeno oli vielä muutaman päivän päässä, joten jätimme, ehkä monet tateista olivat jo matojen valtaamia. Näkötorni oli myös mukava kokemus, n 20 m korkeudella oli huikaisevat näkymät ympäröiviin maisemiin, lähellä vain metsää, mutta taivaanrannalla siintelivät lukuisat tuulivoimalat - lähes joka puolella.

Kivijata oli aivan mahtava kokemus, niin suurta pirunpeltoa en ollut vielä aikaisemmin nähnyt. Ja hyvä että kivillä sai kävellä vain...
