Today was our 5th time going up and down Saana, but while it gets harder as our age increases (I'm 47, husband is 53), it never gets any less impressive. The first third is always the hardest, in my opinion. About 1km through a small birch forest (literal battalions of mosquitoes driving you nuts as they attempt to suck every last drop of your blood) and then up fairly steep rocky hill and then u some stairs to where the climb properly starts. The route is we'll marked all the way up with posts and is rocky. Decent hiking shoes are a must, and it's necessary to really watch where you're putting your feet because you really don't want to turn your ankle up here! The views from the top are breathtaking, and well worth the sweat it takes to get there. I would say, as is often the case, the coming down is much harder. With already tired legs the chance of stepping on a loose rock and sliding are high and again, the last thing you need up here is a bang on the head or a broken ankle. All in all, it's a fantastic lace that always draws you back for some reason. Thoroughly recommend for anyone with basic decent...

I kind of expected more magnificent trails and views. They said it is 3-4 h hike to the top. The path didn’t look too scenic. The instructions says to take a compass with you which made me wonder how well the trail is marked. I was not prepared for the cold weather. There was ice in the lake and it was freezing - June 14th… there are not lots of services in the area, so I recommend to come prepared with lots of food, water and proper...

One of the highest and most recognizable fjells in Finland, Saana has an iconic profile and it is "The" Landmark of the Käsivarsi part of Finnish Lapland.

Adventurous souls might find themselves hiking to the mountaintop, which is no easy feat despite the well-established paths. The views from the top definitely pay off in...

Highest peak in Finland that is easily accessible. Over 1000 metres. Routes might change a little because the amount of visitors. Some new steps has been made to make the route handle the amount people going there. It's approximately 8 kilometers depending on your staring place and approximately 550 meters elevation.
