Kurala Kylämäki (Swedish: Kurala bybacke) is a museum and cultural recreation area owned by the City of Turku, which maintains the rural environment with its buildings, gardens, meadows and fields in the 1940s and 1950s.

Kurala village hill in 2004. The village has four farms - Iso-Rasi, Vähä-Rasi, Iso-Kohmo and Vähä-Kohmo - and their 26 buildings. The area is protected by the Ancient Monuments Act in 1980, and the buildings in the town plan in 1984. The village of Kurala belongs to the Aura River National Landscape and Turku National Park, and is one of the nationally significant built cultural environments defined by the National Board of Antiquities.

Among other things, the handicrafts and working methods that have shaped the village's current traditional landscape are maintained. The buildings of Iso-Kohmo in the middle of the hill have been chosen as the core of the farm. In the experimental workshop, handicrafts are widely maintained from ancient techniques to art workshops. Involving the public and passing on handicrafts from one generation to the next is a...

This museum was unexpectedly excellent! The info building has a small workshop where kids can build their own shoe remover out of wood and hand tools. There are also craftsmen and women who make things and are available to answer questions. The children really liked the children's playhouse and there was a cafe which served delicious pastries. We were too late for lunch, which ended at 1400, but it smelled good. It was really nostalgic seeing all the different things that they used to use on the farm. We thoroughly enjoyed this and recommend it! It's hard to believe...

Truly excellent. Well worth the 45 minute walk out of Turku (there is a bus that stops just outside). Most of the buildings are in their original places - they have been filled well to help recreate a rural farming environment in the 1950s. The staff were really helpful, particularly the young lady on the main desk. They clearly have a passion for what they do. If you only have time for one museum when in Turku,...

Come here if you have a car, or a bike, and have nothing else to do. This place is well maintained, but it is quite far from the city centre and you can see this type of buildings while being in some cottage in the countryside. The only pearl (imho) is the main house - beautifully decorated with historic vibes.

Kuralan Kylämäki is blooming now. Summer events have started and animals are finally outdoors. Visit this place to learn about farm life, farm animals and to see the picturesque countryside. There is a small restaurant and (WC) washroom facilities along with seating arrangements in the area.
