Although it appears modest from the outside, the two museum buildings house a fascinating collection of meteor finds and other geological exhibits from the Söderfjärden impact crater. There are also choice finds from other impact craters for comparison. The film and information panels are in Finnish, Swedish, and English. If you visit here, do not miss to visit the exhibition centre there, it is quiet informative and you get to learn a lot about this place.
The history of a sea engulfed land to a farming land currently amazed me!

Read moreThe 520 million year old meteor crater is definitely worth a visit, even if it is just for 10 minutes. From the crater center you can see the circular formation of the crater rim and the flat middle of now farmland. It used to be a lake until it was drained by hand in 1926. The best view is from the 7m high observation tower that is open year round. We visited on the 30th May and the visitors center was closed as it opens for the season on the 1st June.
