Although it appears modest from the outside, the two museum buildings house a fascinating collection of meteor finds and other geological exhibits from the Söderfjärden impact crater. There are also choice finds from other impact craters for comparison. The film and information panels are in Finnish, Swedish, and English. For me, the best part of the experience was the friendly and knowledgeable docents. They do a fantastic job presenting the exhibits and explaining the significance of each object. Added plus: there is an observation tower for birdwatching next to the museum. The docent I was chatting with was also very knowledgeable about the local...

If you are a history and nature lover then this place a must visit. This is one of the land crater in Finland which is also the most oldest one.

If you visit here, do not miss to visit the exhibition centre there, it is quiet informative and you get to learn a lot about this place.

The history of a sea engulfed land to a farming land currently amazed me!

Also stay bit late evenings in the autumn to view the bird flying across to Kvarken Archipelago for beating the cold winds!

I completely loved and rejoiced my time here at this place. I also felt, biking to this place was one of the best decision...

The 520 million year old meteor crater is definitely worth a visit, even if it is just for 10 minutes. From the crater center you can see the circular formation of the crater rim and the flat middle of now farmland. It used to be a lake until it was drained by hand in 1926. The best view is from the 7m high observation tower that is open year round. We visited on the 30th May and the visitors center was closed as it opens for the season on the 1st June. It is run by volunteers, so its opening hours are limited. Don’t be out off as there are enough information signs around and you can go up the...

We were very excited to get there. We were curious about what it's like to walk on a meteor... in reality you see a very large expanse of fields which, despite the signage, is difficult to experience as the circular space left by the meteor. And as the children said - I wish there was a hot air balloon there that would allow you to see everything from above... 🕊️🫠😅🙃
