Cathedrale Saint Veran — Attraction in Apt

Many of the reviews and photos on this site were posted more than a year or two ogo. As of October 2025 the cathedral, and the entire area surrounding the cathedral, is in the middle of a massive renovation. It's going to be beautiful. In the meantime, the cathedral is stunning; the interior is mostly reconstructed. The best thing? Capisco perché nessuna guida turistica parli di questo paese. Sinceramente penso che si qualifichi al primo posto come cittadina più brutta del sud della Francia, forse in anni passati ha avuto un suo boom turistico ma non deve essere durato molto, questo si evince dalle decine di negozi, ristoranti chiusi e abbandonati. Di storico artistico come questa cattedrale sono di bassa qualità, insomma se nelle guide turistiche non è mai nominato c’è un motivo. Mi domanderei come mai non ci sia più turismo? Se trattate i dieci turisti che vi capitano sempre con quell’ aria scorbutica e ignorante, fra 5 anni anche i pochi posti aperti saranno...

Von aussen wirkt die Kirche spartanisch und wenig einladend, eine Renovation der Fassade wäre hinfällig. Im Innern dann ein gewaltiger Kontrast. Hier eröffnen sich dem Besucher eine Fülle an Eindrücken. Es wurde in der Zier nicht an goldener Farbe gespart, ein prächtiger Altar nimmt eine Dominante ein.
