After a long drive from another town, we entered the ticket office needing to use the facilities (toilet) first.
But the lady behind the counter kept rudely calling us to buy tickets. Know that this site's location is very out of the way, needing to drive 1.5km in a narrow one lane road but for two-way traffic. No one in their right mind would specifically go here just to use the toilets!
Seeing how the lady treated us, we decided to leave and totally not enter the site.
Imagine then the lady chased us outside the office saying the toilet is only for customers. We now ask what she wants us to do. We can't buy tickets retroactively just because we had used the toilet. After some thought, she then comes up with a random amount of EUR 3 (EUR 1 per person). When I give her cash of EUR 20 and EUR 50, she doesn't even have change for it. Read moreCareful: the road to the village is extremely narrow, making it almost impossible at times to meet oncoming traffic! For a while, traffic was completely blocked when we visited (at what turned out to be a peak time.)
The village itself is totally worth the visit though - it's fascinating to walk around and have a peek in the different houses, stables, workshops... and get a sense of the history of the place. It's fairly small so take your time and just enjoy the atmosphere. I only wish the road there was better suited for traffic and the receptionists were nicer (they seemed very much...
Read moreI get that they're unique to the area, and for that reason alone I guess they're worth the visit, but the attraction itself is set up very simply, the signage is mediocre and there is very little to help you understand more about the lives of the people who worked so hard to build the Bories and the people who inhabited them.
I feel like it's a missed opportunity, and therefore not really worth the detour unless you decide to make a day out of it and have a little picnic there like some other families were...
