Very interesting experience! I had never seen olives being grown, and it was quite novel for me. The self-guided tour was free and very informative. It was a walk of about 1 kilometer around the property accompanied by audio clips (available in both French and English) explaining the steps of the olive oil production process. I would recommend bringing headphones, as it can be a bit hard to hear on your phone if there is strong wind, as there was on the day of our visit. The grounds were very well maintained, and the views of the surrounding hills were impressive. We then had a free tasting of several different types of Moulin Castelas olive oils. We did not feel strongly pressured to buy by the staff, as I think the quality of the product speaks for itself.
The only qualm I had about the tour was that I had limited data left on my phone plan, and streaming each audio clip used quite a bit of data. It may not be practical to have WiFi available on the full walking route, but this would have made the experience even better for people like me who don't have unlimited data.
Would definitely recommend anyone visiting the Les Baux/St. Rémy area to stop in for a visit here. They have done much to make the tour and tasting experience very pleasant and...

A brilliant free of charge audio tour around a portion of the olive trees estate in English or French and simple to use on your phone (ideally bring headphones/ ear buds). Excellent explanations by audio as well as some excellent information boards as you walk around. Probably a maximum of one kilometre walking on the flat much of it on an excellent board walk with great views and the environment and nature. Very peaceful
A short look at the mill and processing area
All free and no feeling of pressure to purchase any of the olive oil or even to have a tasting. However, generally I guess most people do decide to purchase a small bottle or two or more even of the excellent olive oils
Great experience all round....
Read moreDefinitely a worthwhile stop! We arrived on a whim late in the day (18h), yet the welcome was friendly nonetheless. We were even offered a tour, which we hadn't expected at this hour. It was informative without being too long, and it concluded with a tasting of several different types of olive oil. The charming young host/guide even made a most impressive effort to communicate in English; between her ability and our French, we came away with deeper appreciation for l'olivier. Drop in if you are near Baux de Pce or Saint Rémy as it is only minutes away with a lovely,...
