Just visited house and garden. The host is very welcoming, and the guide for the tour of 5-6 rooms on the ground floor of the chateau was well informed and welcoming. The rooms themselves have been renovated with very good taste.
The gardens are very tranquil. Peacocks are free to roam, there is lots of birdsong and fish in the lake. The horses were happy in their stables. Specimen trees are well labelled, and signposting throughout is discrete but effective. The garden does have an English style, that is when the English were bringing back plants from Asia, rhododendrons and bamboo, so one of the bridges is Chinese style. Lakes and water features are very attractive.
Thankfully no gift shop or coffee shop, but will take away...
