Stunning memorial to almost 5,000 Indian Soldiers and Labourers who fell in the Great War on the Western Front but who have no known grave. The memorial is very different to all of the other memorials to the missing and is well worth a visit. Neuve Chapelle was chosen as the location for the memorial since it was here that the Indican Corps fought its first major engagement of the war. It has a small off-road parking area. Don't forget to visit the interesting Portuguese Military cemetery situated next to the memorial.

Serene place. This memorial commemorates over 4700 soldiers and labourers who lost their lives on the Western Front during the First World War and have no known graves. The memorial has an influence from the constructions during the period of Emperor Ashoka. You can find the names of the soldiers written on the walls. Ample free parking spaces available

A memorial to the soldiers of the British Raj who were lost or missing during the great war. The site was bombed in world war two as there was a Luftwaffe operation center nearby. The damage is still visible on the walls. The site despite some damage remains in tact.

During World War I, Indian soldiers fought in various parts of the world, including the Western Front in Europe, the Middle East, and East Africa. One notable incident involving Indian soldiers was the Battle of Neuve Chapelle in France in March 1915.

In this battle, the Indian Corps of the British Indian Army played a significant role in capturing the village of Neuve Chapelle from the German army. The Indian troops faced heavy casualties, with over 4,200 soldiers being killed or wounded in just three days of fighting. Despite the high cost, the battle was considered a strategic victory for the Allied forces and demonstrated the capabilities of Indian troops on the battlefield.
