For a fit, but unprepared person, 2 to 2½ hours are required to climb this small but steep and challenging mountain from the train station. The last stretch before the top is quite unpleasant due to the combination of steepness with loads of rocks that are more or less loose and slippery. You can also ride up for a 19.50 € return ticket or 16.50 € one way. I walked up and rode down. The views, even from 2/3rds of the way up are great: you can see from Hendaye to Hossegore and beyond on a good day. Vultures and horses populate the mountain. In the summer, there's a crowd of all sorts with children, so while tedious, it's quite feasible for most people so long as you wear sun protective clothing (hat) and good climbing shoes and carry water. Some people wore sneakers which I would say are pretty unsuited given the risk of spraining there is. At the summit, three cafés and restaurants are there if you require food or just refreshments. The prices at the first café you reach on arriving are OK for such a touristic place. You can catch the train back down on a one-way ticket for 16.50 €. The ride lasts...

Also there are some horses near top when I went that blocked trail so I had to wake in thorn bushes to get around them.
