Had a lovely day by the lake. Its clean, cool, refreshing and feels very safe to swim in with the presence of life guards. We hadn't realised how close to Bergerac town centre it is! There is a restaurant there too for drinks and snacks to take away or to sit in for lunch/dinner. Toilets also near by and clean.

Loved this place. Nice little play park, a 1 and a bit km path round the lake and a buoyed off area for swimming. The water was so warm in August - very refreshing. I went for an early morning run and swim there as well as later in the day. Wish I could do this every week, but England is cold and rubbish!

Have been to Bergerac many times before and never knew this place existed or that it's 1km walk up from the town centre. Dog friendly, although they aren't supposed to swim in the lake. Guessing it would be packed when it's hot though

.

There are a lot of bathing lakes in Southern France, and this is one of the very nicest.

It is not over-commercialised, having just one small bar-restaurant in high season. There are several car parks, a couple near the lake and others at other access points to the surrounding park area.

As well as swimming or paddling - there is a shallow "petit bain" area marked out within the larger swimming area - you can walk, jog or cycle around the lake perimeter, or within the larger park area.

There are benches and picnic tables, and a children's play area that includes a zip wire. Great fun!

The little bar-restaurant serves the food efficiently and is not over-priced for a business which probably has just three months to earn a living.

Five star family...
